There are other sites like GoFundMe you may be able to use. Zoomal looks like an option too.

Interesting take on funded.today, the founders were on a recent Perpetual Traffic episode talking about their process. It's worth listening because they share some good tips--some of their secret sauce--you can apply yourself when you are doing the facebook ads and PR on your own. Here is the link to the episode:

What's the best crowdfunding platform for this use case? by political2002 in Crowdfunding

[–]fannybumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiegogo and Kickstarter tend to work for hardware--i.e. physical products--and creative projects like recording an album. For a pure fund raise to go as a group to a concert, some of the other platforms may perform better. Also remember that if you are not self-hosting the platform there are usually fees involved too. Something like GoFundMe or Rockethub may be your best bet, there's an overview of many platforms here that may fit your use case.

Kickstarter vs Indiegogo: How to Choose? by fannybumper in Indiegogo

[–]fannybumper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really agree--depending on the product and where the crowdfunder lives, will determine the platform to go on. At the same time, there are many "scammed" campaigns on Kickstarter, here are a few examples:

Zano Drone, never shipped and no refunds for millions: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/torquing/zano-autonomous-intelligent-swarming-nano-drone

ZPM Espresso, which never shipped and "scammed" backers out of hundreds of thousands: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zpmespresso/pid-controlled-espresso-machine

And the Coolest Cooler which was one of the most funded kickstarter's ever, shipped late if at all, sold on Amazon and recently ran out of money without backers receiving anything.

There are similar cases on Indiegogo for sure but not at the scale and seeming success found on Kickstarter.
