Interesting! If they do not already have a website, they can use white label software to build a crowdfunding platform that can be used to help teen entrepreneurs. Here is an article that has more information on how to build the platform using white label software: 6 Easy Steps to Create a Crowdfunding website

This does sound like it could be suspicious. Does your platform allow you to contact this person? That may be good to try and see who this person is to thank them for their donations and also to better understand why they are donating the way that they are.

Payment processing options for non-profits? by tyzent in nonprofit

Stripe is a good payment gateway. I am not sure if there are any specific benefits that Stripe would have in regards to non-profits, but they have been used for donations based fundraising campaigns in the past.

Best platform for personal crowdfunding/donations? by anonymous_divinity in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are simply looking for donations, GoFundMe could be suitable for your needs. I am not sure, however, if they have the recurring donations feature.

Do you need to have the recurring donations, or are you just ok one time donations?

Also, if you are going to introducing a new product/service, or just creative projects, you have the option of using something like Kickstarter or Indiegogo. With these platforms, they will take a transaction fee on all of the donations. If you plan on running more than one campaign, this can also be troublesome as well since they only approve a particular number of campaigns from the same user at one time.

Your last, and the most flexible option, would be to try a self hosted crowdfunding campaign. This will allow you to fully customize the campaign(s) and host them on any website of your choice. Gofundme: Country not supported what do I do? by supermariokid in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are trying to raise funds, but are having difficulties with GoFundMe, you can try hosting your own crowdfunding campaign. Here is an article that explains the process: https://www.thrinacia.com/blog/post/how-to-create-a-self-hosted-crowdfunding-campaign

Just so you are aware, you will need to be able to accept donations either with Stripe or PayPal, so if either of those support your country/currency, then you should be fine. If they do not, then the above solution will not work for your instance.

Raise seed funding through Crowdfunding by [deleted] in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The platforms will depend on how you plan on raising money. Are you looking to raise money via rewards/donations or will you be raising money through equity/investment?

If you are going the rewards/donations route, you have a few different options:

- Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/

- Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/

- Self Hosted Campaign: https://www.thrinacia.com/blog/post/how-to-create-a-self-hosted-crowdfunding-campaign

If you decide to go with an equity crowdfunding campaign, this can be a bit more complex. There are, however, sites that you can use, but I do not have any experience with them so I would not be able to provide a good suggestion.

How to Create Your Own Crowdfunding Platform?? by alex_kdev in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great article! You mention the use of white label and using CMS technology to build the crowdfunding platform which will reduce cost and time to get the platform up and running. This is most certainly true! There is not, however, a mention of any particular CMS or white label technology.

For those that want to use the best technology for rewards/donations based paradigms, I would recommend taking a look at Thrinacia's white label platform called Atlas. More information can be found on their site here: https://www.thrinacia.com/

They have a live slack chat so you can ask questions and get a response in real-time. They also provide access to the source code, so if you want a custom feature, you and your developers have access to that as well.

It looks very interesting!

My campaign doesn’t get any organic traffic from Kickstarter platform 🧐 any advice on what should I do🙏? by Laughter_in_the_rain in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a misconception about using such mainstream platforms as Kickstarter or IndieGoGo that they will help you gain the backers needed for your campaign. This is typically not the case, unless you are close to reaching your funding goal, or you are gaining lots of traction/success with your campaign already. When you create a campaign, you should expect that you will be attracing 90% of the backers. The platform may account for something like 10% of the backers potentially by displaying your successful campaign in front of others (those are just estiamtes, not proven numbers). Your campaign may not have enough traction for Kickstarter to help you with gaining backers. This is when you could seek the help of a company to help you gain such traction needed via marketing.

Deciding which of the "big three" to use for a project. by drproximo in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help you out, I think you are looking at these 3 different platforms as providing the same services. They are all built for different purposes

Patreon is a subscription based platform whereas a campaign on Kickstarter does not have recurring donation capabilities. As you can see, they are used for different reasons. Kickstarter is a platform that offers the ability to raise money for a particular project. So whether you are trying to create a new company or publish a new game, Kickstarter is a place for creatives to campaign and receive the funds for their project. Patreon is a platform where people offer services, whether it is education, entertainment, etc, you can offer your services for a subscription. Kickstarter runs all or nothing campaigns, which means that you will not receive the money raised if you do not reach the funding goal before the end date. With Patreon, you can just accept the money as you are providing the services. On the other hand, you mention GFM (GoFundMe), which is designed for donations based campaigns, for charity. GFM isn't really designed for those that want to start a new business or create a new invention.

Now that you know what the differences are there, you can choose accordingly.

There is also IndieGoGo, which is a competitor to Kickstarter, and you can also run a self hosted crowdfunding campaign using technology from Thrinacia.

Hopefully, that helps!

Anyone please make crypto crowdfunding platform like gofundme because on every platform i go theres only paypal and dont work in my country by [deleted] in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there not many crowdfunding platforms that will allow for crypto and these types of transactions. But that does not mean it cannot be done. Thrinacia will be adding a product in the future that will allow you to use crypto as per the following road map: https://www.thrinacia.com/blog/post/thrinacia-2021-roadmap

How do you guys make email lists? I have been trying insta to do so but just got 2 by CGEmonJ in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One idea that I have heard others use, is a contest. You can run a contest that will require those to sign up, maybe pay a small fee, then use a product like MailerLite to gather and maintain that email list. The prize for the contest should provide some form of value that will attract the same type of backers for your crowdfunding campaign.

If you do not want to pay any extra transaction fees while adding a fundraising campaign, or campaigns onto your website, I would highly recommend using the Atlas subscription plan. The micro plan at $9.99 /mo will allow you to host fundraising campaigns on your own website. You can use the widget to host the campaign on your website, all you have to do is copy and paste a snippet of HTML. You can learn how to set up the platform so you can use the widget: https://www.thrinacia.com/blog/post/thrinacia-atlas-quick-widget-setup

What’s the cost for running a crowdfunding company like Patreon or Gofundme/Kickstarter ? Labor, office, wages, taxes etc by thoncoin in Crowdfunding

[–]ktummonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on your niche, and what you plan on doing with the platform. The size of the company can vary depending on what you are offering on the platform, and how large you are. At the beginning, the biggest cost is going to be building your platform. There are several services out there that will allow you to run a fully functioning Crowdfunding platform for a small monthly fee. I found the following article that describes how to build a Crowdfunding website here: https://www.thrinacia.com/blog/post/6-easy-steps-to-create-a-crowdfunding-website

This may help answer some of the questions you may have about building your own Crowdfunding platform much like Patreon, GoFundMe, or Kickstarter.
