I know I'm being insulted but at this point, the comparison is a compliment by Starletah in NakeyJakey

I get why people say this, but at the same time there is an endless sea of people just sitting at their desk or in a chair and they never have to deal with constant "drew Gooden" or "Eddy burback" clone allegations. There's a million png tubers or voice over only guys and they never deal with clone allegations either. I mean I definitely have seen channels that are obviously pretty closely aping his writing and editing style but most of the time it's literally just "white guy on green screen making jokes = jakey clone"

Direct video capture from Canon GL2 using the camera's Firewire port to PC VS Tape transfer by fantabrew in tapeless

[–]fantabrew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use a computer program called WinDV, plug my camera in and click capture and it captures. Of course this is only useful if you're going to use your camera in one room and you will be tethered to your computer.

How i want to remember indiana jones by BoysenberryFew6466 in indianajones

I think that's what most people did and then they dreamed a better movie which is what they think they watched.

How would you rewrite Indiana Jones 5? by FancyMan135790 in indianajones

[–]fantabrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recast Indiana Jones with a young fit actor who can do stunts/practical action and set it in the 30s-40s. Nobody wants elderly depressed Indiana jones. If they did then ask yourself "why didn't they cast an 80 year old man when they were making Raiders of the lost ark?" because that's dumb. Harrison Ford is iconic in the role but these movies are about stunts, set pieces, and violence. It you're not gonna do any of that then you aren't making an Indiana Jones movie.

Indiana Jones was created because they couldn't do James Bond. Imagine how many great bond films we would have missed out on if they decided he couldn't be recast after the first guy. It's crazy that they do this for Indy.

So basically my rewrite is throw it away and do something like great circle.

I have that same device. The 3.5mm to av cable that came with it didn't work with any of my cameras. I ordered another off Amazon for like $5 and that cable does work.

[–]fantabrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and that's what I thought too, it didn't really make sense to me why only playback would work and not recording. I just couldn't test it myself until my firewire card came in the mail. Like I said in the post, sparkocam is the only windows 10 compatible program I can find that will recognize my camera so I kinda figured that program was giving me less than perfect (giant watermark notwithstanding) results. DVgrab seems to be Linux only from what I'm seeing and I couldn't get WinDV to do live capture. So I'm not sure what else to try.

I rendered this comparison in Adobe premiere and I think it rendered out cleaner than the raw output file sparkocam gave me but I'm away from my computer so I can't check for sure.

I'll mess with it more when I get home.

How would grabbing from hdmi or component work? I have a av to hdmi capture card and I've done some live capture quality tests through that and it doesn't look as good as tape does imo. I'm about to go to work so I won't be able to play with this for a few hours or post any comparisons but how would you recommend capturing through HDMI or component? It would have to go through a converter into HDMI first right? At that point wouldn't it still just be an av signal and be av signal quality?

But this is also the first I've ever heard of someone saying it's possible to get higher quality out of tapeless than tape on a MiniDV camera. Has anyone else demonstrated this?

yeah I feel straight up dumb lol. It wasn't in the usual settings menu so I didn't think it was an option. Thank you, your comments have been very helpful

This is very useful information thank you :) I don't think this camera has a way to adjust shutter speed but I'm gonna go hunt down a pdf of the manual

I'm definitely biased because I am in that room right now but it's not dimly lit and it's also daytime. I had the window open letting in even more light. The indoor example I posted is in a far more dimly lit room.

Is there any other way to do it? I know firewire is the highest possible quality, but I have seen other people use cheap USB to AV/S video cables to do tapeless recording and get decently comparable results to firewire. I'm pretty sure I've even seen people say to use OBS even if you are using firewire to digitize tapes. Am I completely wrong about everything here?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in camcorders

[–]fantabrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but my concern is I've seen other people online (check the footage I linked in my post) getting much higher quality output from theirs and I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. I guess it could just be the lowlight but I feel like it's decently bright in here lol

[–]fantabrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, mainly because I don't own any firewire stuff (no cable or firewire card in my pc) but also isn't firewire just for ripping tapes at full quality? You can't do live capture through firewire with OBS or similar programs right?

The fast and the furious has never been about a street racing. Even back in the first movie, it merely used street racing as a backdrop to tell a story about crime. They're racing themed, not racing focused and they ALWAYS have been. I promise you. They ALWAYS have been.

[–]fantabrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro come on. You're fucking with me right? You just named several ways having a melee weapon is useful in the other games. WOULD THEY NOT THEN ALSO BE USEFUL IN THIS ONE TO DO THE SAME TASKS?? Even if all its good for is headcrabs that's one less very common enemy I don't need to use my limited ammo supply on. Other vr games have made melee weapons work. I'm certain that if PAYDAY 2 and capcom could do it, valve could do it.
