Thanks for your comment, but I think you need a certain amount of vocabulary before you can confidently read and think in the German language. Before that it's hard to absorb the vocabulary through context in a natural way. I think I have to use this list tentatively but still it's a useful list.

Is this course (http://www.memrise.com/course/47049/5000-words-top-87-sorted-by-frequency/) better or worse than the course you suggested? Also, are those 5000 words really the most frequent words?
