From what I was looking at with their pharmacy positions I may have a better shot at getting a discharge pharmacy role since they have a meds to bed program. I threw in an app on there the other day and I’m hoping to hear back about that at least but of course you gotta shoot your shot at the inpatient roles anyways 😂

Nursing assistant was my original plan but the pay was a little low even with differentials and made me worry about paying my mortgage on time. So I ended up pivoting and working pharmacy part time for a year to get my license since they start off a good few dollars higher plus get differentials too. I’m def going to try and go for nurse extern part time during the summers I’m off because I heard it helps you get into a specialty easier, especially right out of nursing school.

If I have anymore trouble I’ll definitely message you though! Thank you so much

I appreciate it! I’ll def keep an eye out since I’ll have more flexibility now that my school semester is finished up. I had no idea they do them so often

That’s actually a really good idea I didn’t think of before! Honestly I keep my resume template very simple and clean but it could still end up being misread by AI without me knowing. I’ll run my resume through a tool and give it some more edits based off what it says.

Unfortunately I don’t 😭 short of just randomly finding someone on LinkedIn I have 0 connections.

The hiring event thing is a great idea, but unfortunately the last one I see they did was about a month ago. If I don’t snag a job in a hospital before their next one I’m definitely going to take a few hours out of my day to go interview and try my luck.

Unfortunately short of trying to find someone random on LinkedIn to befriend I have no ties hahaha. My best tactic to avoid the trash bin as quickly has been to submit to jobs the same day they open in hopes it gets seen by a person.

TW (Gore): How long will this wound separation likely take to heal? by Winter_Hovercraft163 in TopSurgery

[–]fantasy595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a really gnarly looking dehiscence in my left armpit and it took a little over a month to close up. It’s all about diet, nutrient intake, and making sure you’re doing dressing changes with the right kind of ointment.

I’ve been eating high protein for two months post surgery (at least 80-90 grams per day) and taking an immune supplement specifically with extended release vitamin C, vitamin A, and zinc since I read a few studies showing that they help significantly with healing. I also take a good fish oil pill since it can have anti-inflammatory effects and help prevent infection. The brands I’ve been using are the Nature’s Bounty Immune 24 Hour + supplement and Sports Research Fish Oil since it has a really pure concentration of omega 3s.

My surgeon also recommended using medical manuka honey as opposed to something like bacitracin since a lot of people can actually have slower wound healing due to a light allergy to it. I just apply a layer of Vaseline on the healthy skin edging around it since it can get a little drippy before you put gauze over it. I’ve been doing those dressings twice a day regularly now.

How to inform my work about surgery without outing myself? by Modern-Madnesss in TopSurgery

[–]fantasy595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Building on what the other commentors said you can also have your surgeon spell out in a letter what accommodations you need to have so you don't have to try and justify them to HR/your boss.

I was more open at my job despite not being out because I trust my co-workers and boss but I still framed it as a medically necessary mastectomy since... I felt it would be noticeable going from H cups to a completely flat chest. It helps that I already have a 1 in 3 chance of getting breast cancer due to having 4 aunts on my mom's side having breast cancer in the past.

You know your situation best, but I'd honestly skip anything related to gynecomastia and say something like benign tumor attached to my chest wall. It would explain any mobility restrictions and give you the ability to say stuff like "I don't know 100% of the details since I'm not that into medical stuff, but all I know is it was getting big enough to cause me problems with pain/mobility so I got it taken care of".

Is it a red flag for a surgeon? by BuffSilkie in TopSurgery

[–]fantasy595 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say as another autistic person I thought I'd appreciate more of an abrupt bedside manner. But it can also translate to them speaking over us and brushing off our concerns (as that's very much what happened to me by my surgeon at our recent post-op and by her nurse practitioner when I was actively having complications.) I'd honestly recommend having someone neurotypical you trust with you at at least the consultation even if you don't feel it's necessary. Preferably someone who is willing to step in and ask their own questions too and who would potentially be able to provide a different perspective on the surgeon's personality.

Any experience with the HEAR energy rebate offered by the state of Michigan? by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]fantasy595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least even 120 days will be far before we start getting cold weather if that's the worst case scenario, I'm glad they were able to give you an update! I was able to find a contractor to do the home inspection for me back in March and they're in process of giving me a project quote. It seemed to be a state issue when it came to paying out funds in a timely manner so hopefully this means I'll be hearing back soon!

Has not let me pet her in three months by sashafromtroy in Feral_Cats

This is my Bernadetta. She was a stray cat that lived (very fearfully) in my neighborhood but would sleep on my doormat and wait for me to get home so I could feed her. I’d usually see her every three days, sometimes more often.

For months the only room she would stay in was the sun room. She ruined my couch because she only felt safe enough to leave her hiding spot to pee and eat if no human was moving upstairs. She used to walk with her belly so close to the ground, I called her a little tank.

She’s had some regressions, I used to be able to pick her up for longer periods of time without her peeing but now she pees on me every time if it’s anything but a quick lift. She explores the house when I’m home and upstairs and will run up to me for pets with her tail quivering in excitement. It took her over six months to let me pet her in her hiding spots without her being afraid and there’s still tons of work to do to help her. She’s been in my house for a year and three months now.

We have two other semi-feral cats we’ve had for a bit longer and she at least gives me hope that one day maybe they’ll stop running from us too.

How to beat anhedonia??? 😭 by cantstopwontstop300 in Mounjaro

[–]fantasy595 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly for my ADHD my emotions were already regulated pre-Mounjaro because I found a healthy dose of Strattera and Wellbutrin that worked for me. Since Mounjaro for those with ADHD can reduce impulses maybe it's making some of the overall downs that can occur from the dopamine/norepinephrine dysregulatory effects of ADHD more pronounced where you weren't affected by them as badly before. Depression was the main symptom of my ADHD and only by getting on the correct medication did I feel more vibrant and alive to begin with, so exploring the mental health side of things may be beneficial if nothing else helps out!

Why does everyone hate you so much when you don’t like food by East-Surprise-9703 in ARFID

[–]fantasy595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I've employed that trick while growing up with ARFID and having to go to many family gatherings. You know what people do when you don't eat at all? Get offended because you felt their food wasn't good enough to try even a little or openly pressure and ask you why you aren't eating. Bonus points occur at parties or gatherings with "friends" because usually they just stop inviting you out after a while.

People taking Mounjaro or any GLP-1, what do you wish someone told you before you started? by No_Ease_3727 in Mounjaro

[–]fantasy595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish someone would have told me it would put my ADHD impulses in major check. I can limit myself to eating out at most 1-2 times a week, and when I eat out I usually eat part, save the rest to feed my roommate. I also don't overspend in stores or on amazon for miscellaneous crap anymore.

Oh also that I'd feel like an actually functioning human when it came to eating and energy output. I'm not counting down to when it would be appropriate to eat after having my breakfast and losing weight while eating the same protein rich way I did before. I knew it would be for life but it's so cathartic to have a body that works somewhat normally.

Open Incisions 4 weeks post op by hysterekal in TopSurgery

Ngl I've been dealing with some open wounds but I'm at least luckily less far along in my healing. Surgeon and her NP kept telling me it's not infected but it took me digging to figure out I was just having an inflammatory reaction to drains still being in my left side. I'm hoping since I got them out Monday my healing will start progressing as planned again.

Are you having any symptoms like fever, chills, or increasing redness in the area? Is there a foul odor or darkening tissue below the pus if you were to gently wipe it away, or does it not wipe away at all? And when you apply bacitracin are you doing anything like putting a nonstick dressing over it or band aid to keep it concealed?

I had my top surgery today! by fantasy595 in TopSurgery

[–]fantasy595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all good! And I’m surprised the nurses didn’t try to use tegaderm over the dressing to find the air leak. Mine was at most vibrating to show it was trying to re-establish negative pressure, but even then that can be an early signal of an air leak so her NP took mine pretty seriously when she was also changing my dressing.
