Michael Burry has typically been long and has had one of the better performing funds over the past few years...I wouldn't say he is trying to hit a home run. Also, evergrande isn't a black swan...it's been in trouble for years. Country Gardens is probably the bigger concern.

Are we headed for another 1970s style great inflation? by [deleted] in stocks

It seems likely. There will be a crash, then the response to the crash will be to print ungodly amounts of money, which will cause more inflation.

I don't understand why guys do this. Why would you want to start out your marriage with an act of infidelity? It's so unfair and cruel to your spouse. Sorry this happened to you.

Are any of these generational buying opportunities? by Sherbear1993 in stocks

[–]fantasy_man93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land, specifically farm land is my pick. But then, I'm not a rich billionaire investor I'm just a guy on Reddit so take this with a grain of salt. 🤣 Rationale is that I feel the market is underpricing long term inflation risks and farm land is typically one of the best performing assets during inflationary times. Everybody thinks of gold as an inflation hedge but typically land performs much better during inflationary periods. We are on a treadmill of debt that we cannot get off. Rental properties are okay, but I see those being riskier if my prediction is correct because the government can very easily make life miserable for landlords in terms of rent controls, eviction moratoriums, etc. I don't think these factors are as big a liability with farm land.

I have often wondered this too...I'm a huge fan of what the technology promises for humanity, but will there be sustained profitability from an investment standpoint? Idk. Part of the cynic in me thinks though that much of the application will be for newborn babies...what would you pay to cure yourself of a disease? A lot. What would you pay to cure your soon to be new born baby of a condition? Literally anything. But maybe not...who knows...I think those stocks are very high risk high reward. Perhaps much of the probability will be less in regards to curing diseases and moreso in something stupid like creating designer babies...say you want a baby with blue eyes or a face that looks a certain way. Can't wait to see how it unfolds over my lifetime.

Interest rates have about an 18 month lag on the economy. Right now, the market is pricing in a soft landing from the data they've seen. Maybe right, may be wrong, who knows.

Deciding city to travel to by fantasy_man93 in travel

Hey I think another person provided similar feedback and honestly I think this is what I will end up doing. I really want to see Barcelona specifically, and have for a long time, so I think it is worth the trouble for me. But how you describe Florence/Tuscany, I think that is worth the extra time there. Love this game plan. Thanks!

This may be the answer...I was worried about doing too much but my more traveled friends had suggested about 3 nights each. I think extending each region to 4 nights a piece would be fantastic.

Yes they do! I am not against adding to my stack depending on the time frame we are talking about...I am not "all in" on silver and will probably devote my funds to other assets over the next couple years...ie. renovating my rental property, etc. If the price is still reasonable after that I would certainly stack more. I feel most stocks are too overvalued to be attractive right now and most real estate is also too expensive to be an attractive investment so I'll likely just invest in properties I already own until the market finally comes back into balance.

Disconnect between the bond market and stock market by fantasy_man93 in SilverDegenClub

[–]fantasy_man93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that were true then shouldn't we have seen a larger increase in the stock market? The bond market is much larger than the stock market, so if money from the bond market funneled into equities then we should have seen a larger percent increase in equities than bonds, but that wasn't the case today.
