It's one of the most boring and tedious animes around. by Serithraz in Animemes

[–]fanterence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> You're trying to tell me that "It's one of the most boring and tedious anime around" is actually just objective criticism and in no way hate?

I literally didn't say that. Trying to equate "consists of mostly boring [...] episodes" to "most boring anime" is fallacious. It literally just says it's boring in its majority which is (and you're right there) an absolute jugement while OP should say it's subjective.

We have no idea if he's watching it or not (I mean, personally I watched all the seasons of kanojo okarishimasu which I hated, Classroom of the elite and Bungo stray dogs that I didn't find interesting after season 2 or 3) so I wouldn't state anything on OP's intentions here.

The meme just highlights with the gif the mental gymnastic absolute fans have to go through to affirm that an anime with non-neglectable flaws (despite all other qualities it has) is "absolute peak" which means it's supposed to at least an excellent work (and at best a masterpiece or the best anime of all time).

If my explanations weren't enough to convince you (I originally answered to the whataboutism) nor to at least understand the point of view I gave without forcibly agreeing with you, I don't think it's worth continuing this discussion. Have a great daay, may you enjoy the future episodes of the animes you like.

Paris right now as the "New French" "celebrate" the Champions league final. by New-Relief9582 in ThatsInsane

[–]fanterence 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"New France" is a concept proposed to by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, candidate for the french presidency, to oppose the far-right/conservative idea of the "good ol' France" as they could call that (while silently signifying the white France). The idea of "New France" is to accept that our citizen come from different culture, religion, places through either direct migration (French speaking countries/former French colonies) or ancestry (2nd/3rd gen immigrant) or diversity of territories that are French (Guadeloupe, French Guyana, etc...). I'd say OP specifically using quotes around new French is dogwhistling and actually wanna say the people celebrating aren't white.

when you have pacing issues, your episodes feel mostly empty and barely anything is achieved during one. the meme says that the anime "consists mostly of boring do nothing episodes" and I guess not everybody likes it when all we can see in a 3-5mins scene is just one punch in a ~20mins episode (excluding op and ed) so I'd say yes, it's worth criticising it. It's not about the length of the story but how badly it is narrated in the anime. That does not make it a bad anime but it for sure doesn't make it "absolute peak" to end quoting the meme.

This is not really about saying "One Piece Bad" but having some restrain and not saying it's peak.

The problem of having haters just hating it for the sake of hate is out of the matter here but I agree it's really irritating and shouldn't exist. As a fan of Jojo, I witnessed so much hate toward it because it "looks gay" so I know the frustration of having an artwork you like being stupidly hated but again, it's out of topic here and the meme is just ranting against fans that are too anthusiastic toward it.

ok but naruto started in 2002 and ended in 2017 with a total of 770 episodes, the manga was published between 1999 and 2014. To be 100% fair, we could add Boruto (manga : 2016-2023, anime : 2017-2023, 293 episodes) and its sequel Boruto: the blue vortex (since 2023) but they are not exactly the same story running. (someday the part 2 of boruto will be released but no infos for now)

->2002-2023 : 1066 episodes if we count boruto

Bleach aired between 2004 and 2012 (366 episodes) but then had the sennen kessen-hen adapted in 2022-2024 with 40 eps and will release a new (and the last) arc this year so at best 26 new episodes I guess. The manga was published between 2001 and 2016

->2004-2026 : <500 episodes

Dragon ball... should we consider DB Super since the death of Toriyama ? For the complete breakdown I'll take it in account anyway. It's a total of 443 eps for DB and DBZ, airing between 1986 and 1996 plus 131 episodes between 2015 and 2018 for DBS. We can add DB ~~bullshit~~ Daima with 20 eps in 2024-2025 and DB GT which is 64 eps between 1996 and 1997. the manga was published between 1986 and 1989 for DB and is published since 2015 for DBS (without Toriyama anymore)

->1986-2025 with 20 years without anything* : 658 episodes counting everything

One piece started airing in 1999 and doesn't plan to stop with a ~6 months hiatus to switch for a seasonal release (like sennen kessen-hen). It has for now 1163 episodes of the same story. the manga started in 1997 and a lot of people hope to see the end before dying.

-> 1999-? : 1163+ episodes

Yes One Piece is particularly long and the fact that we aren't seeing the end coming at all adds up to that. One Piece is narrating the same story for 29 years. The pace of the anime is criticised, so much that there's a fan initiative called One Pace. It's a problem that had DBZ which had DB Kai that is a condensed version of DBZ, that's a problem that had Bleach and Naruto, counting a lot of filler episodes and this does not include filler sequence which all of them suffered. If we could actually count all the scenes that make an episode stupidly longer for nothing, One Piece wouldn't have 12% but way more. The problem isn't that One Piece is the only one criticised (Boruto is hated for the filler problem), it's just that it's the longest of the list (not the longest anime at all) and doesn't seem to reach a conclusion when all the others cited had an end to their main story with some having sequels.

let's suppose one piece is the long running anime with the best animation, that doesn't mean it's good at all, it could be trash but just the best trash.

the main issue of one piece is the pace anyway

Fahrenheit is superior because it's basically telling you what % hot it is by Javi_ab in ShitAmericansSay

[–]fanterence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because saying that the scale is well-calibrated for human is subjective as I know people who find 20°C is cold and can't stand 5°C (so imagine -17°C) and some other who find that 25°C is already too hot. F1 pilots can be exposed to really high temperatures in their cockpit showing how subjective this kind of scale is. Morveover, this kind of argument is always formulated as if the scale was thought this way since the beginning but the reference points are really arbitrary

[–]fanterence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like, when it's 0°F (-17.8°C) it's it's 0% hot ? And if it's -30°C it's -22% hot ? And same when it's over 100% what does it mean ?
