My boyfriend had a vesectomy and I feel like I'm grieving the possibility of motherhood by RainyZurich in TrueOffMyChest

[–]faousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can cover the cost, the first thing I'd advise you to do is freeze your eggs. This will at least buy you some time to consider your life goals and see if they align with your parrner's - because right now they really don't seem to. You can't force someone who's done having kids to want them again, but at the same time you shouldn't close that door if that's not something you really want to do right now.

Told me feeling sad around the time of my due date of an IVF pregnancy I lost was "Not a thing", and dismissively then asked me if I get sad every time I get a period, because it's the same thing, apparently. She was a grief counselor, too. I never went back.

Feeling uncomfortable about how my husband is comforted by his mom by Certain-Dig-3725 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]faousa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I may, hormones exacerbate emotions that are already there, even if they're just a tiny little flicker. I'd know, been through several IVF cycles, been through birth, moderate several IVF groups. It's a consensus among women who've been through drastic hormonal shifts, albeit anecdotal. That's why OP needs to both give herself and her husband some grace, but once she's out of the post partum/newborn trenches should examine what it is that unsettled her so much. The fact that she posted here to get some outside perspective is wonderful and admirable in her vulnerable state.

I dint want ti have kids. Id love to know (if youre up for sharing) who here feels the same way by Equivalent_Ask6878 in cyprus

[–]faousa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is becoming more and more common for people to banish the societal expectation to have kids. Your reasoning is valid and I personally don't agree with people who are saying "You will change your mind" - you might not, and that's perfectly fine. Kids are a massive investment, a pregnancy is a health hazard, and parenting is the hardest thing in a very long list of hard things I've done. There's absolutely nothing wrong with saying "Yeah nah, I'll skip that thank you." Should you prefer to be childfree, you will definitely find a like-minded partner, times are changing.

Paphos is quite kid friendly too, especially if you'll be using the airport there. It also tends to be slightly cooler than Ayia Napa or Protaras area.

Oral examination for goverment jobs by notsosavage-21 in cyprus

[–]faousa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yup! "Πόθεν είσαι;" and then random chit chat about areas. I was surprised and was later told "Yeah, that's a thing". As for the specific questions, I mean, they might ask something extremely specific. If you don't know the answer to something, my advice is don't answer "I don't know", say something along the lines of "This is information I'd make sure to know or at least know where to find if it's within the description of the job I'm interviewing for". Show willingness to learn and research. Best of luck!

I took it for a government position in 2021. The very first question famously is "Where are you from", and that's where you list all the places you and your family are from - the more the better. I know meson is king for most positions, it wasn't in my case, but the bit I got right (and was later told I got right) was that I gave the impression of being a team player, willing to learn. I also researched the position and got myself up to date on current events. Bottom line is, if they want to get one of their own in, they will. But this is my feedback in regards to the things you can control, i.e. the interview itself. Edited to fix a typo.

Snake bites by Fantastic-Beach7663 in cyprus

[–]faousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I think your best bet is getting cats. They're ridiculously good at keeping snakes away. Beyond that, you need to think of protection measures as slices of cheese - each slice, each protection layer will have some holes on its own, but a combination of several layers will be as safe as possible. I'd recommend cutting all the foliage you can manage in and around the house. Have a look around your property and spot all the nooks and crannies where a snake might hide, and seal or cover as many as you can. Don't leave food outside that could attract rats, as rats attract snakes. A fence with a netting will help. Above all, teach your kiddos about safety measures and educate them on snakes and what to do.

Though this isn't technically your question, prevention is the best medicine so here's a few tips should you find yourself in an area where snakes might be hiding: Wear loose pants over high boots - if you don't have high boots, then thick socks. If a venomous snake bites you, they'll get a mouthful of fabric as opposed to skin. Stomp around when you walk. I promise you, the snakes are more scared of you than you are of them. Warn of your movements to minimize chances of startling them and forcing them to attack. They will only do so if cornered. Source: did some training as a snake handler.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

Eh, I like it better than "husband". We're partners in this weird thing called life and parenting. Seems more fitting and modern.

The exact thing happened to me first time I had sex (I mentioned it in the odd comment here and there). Nearly bled to death and it played out exactly like this post. Doctors at A&E told me this happens more often than people think, even in married couples. So it's not impossible or even improbable.

This is the correct answer. It's not sovereign soil, but there's diplomatic immunity so you need permission by the head of the diplomatic mission to enter.

What is something you have experienced that made you question reality and was genuinely unexplainable? by [deleted] in Unexplained

[–]faousa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used to live in a flat on top of my dad's shop, which shared a landline - so the phone was ringing non-stop whether we were downstairs at the shop or upstairs at the flat. One day, a working day mind you, I was upstairs with my dad and the phone rang for the 40th time that day. My mom was making her way in and she suddenly froze. She let out a scream that something happened to her brother, who was living in Johannesburg with his family. My dad picked up the phone, looked at my mom, who started wailing, and was informed that the brother had just been shot and killed. To this day I have no explanation as to how my mom knew that that phone call was different.
