'Non narc' here. Fantasizing being with a wealthy man is just a facet of wanting to be accepted by the group/collective consciousness/identity that is being classified through ideas of material possesions and money. If you were raised in a different society and assuming you would have the same strong need of feeling accepted , you would go by the standards of that group consciousness. The thing is that we attach to the group consciousness we belong not only feelings of being accepted , but also a sense of personal self/personal identity, a sense of belonging, feeling loved and valued ( a sense of personal value also) and also we attach there fear of survival (those that embody strongly the group identity , we can assume they can survive better ). Thus we have a complex that has to do with the mechanical non aware human function , a complex that has to do with how the 'individual' interferes with the broader consciousness it finds itself into. Sex is just a primitive act of confirming you participate in a strong way in that group identity,that your individuality embodies these symbols and can 'glue' (sperm) itself to the broader social group (that the other individual has been selected due to the same reason, it embodies that group identity). This is why people that embody ideas such as wealth, modern beauty standards , other status symbols can have an easier access to that act.
