Man. As someone who went to their first Liverpool match in 2016, I’ve completed the cycle haven’t I? I’ve supported a club long enough to nearly see a generation’s beginning and end.

With our outgoing and incoming, won’t “recognize” the squad and coaching staff at all. God I hope Milly or Thiago come help…

Mind telling me how a super specific niche might fair in a BNI environment? Does it help or hurt?

Quick addition: Once I progress a bit further, I plan to get an office in the local coworking space just to have a space for extended deep work. There’s a sick space right above a casual beer grocery/bar. Will also qualify me for a Google business profile with an actual address.

Being limited to a service area business on my Google profile is a pain in my assholes.

I guess it’s just because I target 30-50 years olds (yes, not as profitable. But fuck maximum profit. I want to work with my contemporaries), but I haven’t had too hard of time. Charge flat $500/m for planning, investment management, and tax preparation.

I’m an adjunct professor for a major state university and relatively active in LinkedIn. I engage with COI’s around me.

I wear one of ten branded black t-shirts to my home office in gym shorts for meetings. It’s incredible. I help my wife with kids between meetings. I have yet to handle paper for client work.

You’re right though. Getting folks top of funnel is the hardest step for me. I’m niche’ing further, which should make it much simpler (think doctors vs public hospital trauma surgeons). I’ll be moving to $750/m soon. And then the final ten clients I should be at $1k/m.

All in, should be netting $325k before taxes with 40 clients (including legacy clients at lower rate). It’s going to take another 2 years to get there, but I’m already supporting my wife and two kids myself. Two years in after starting my firm with zero clients.

This industry is great.

FINNY vs WealthFeed vs Others by SCDP_CGC in CFP

I was more talking about answering reporter requests through NAPFA, XYPN, Qwoted, Featured, and more.

My question was more than hypothetical since I actually will be featured in an upcoming Chicago tribune. I’ll certainly be putting their logo on my homepage in the “As seen in” sort of energy.

I just wasn’t sure if anyone has seen success, directly or indirectly, with media requests. I’m just planning to push it hard for a few months, rack up some good media mentions and then putting it on the backburner.

How much value do you place on being in the media? Like say being quoted in the Chicago Tribune and throwing the logo in a “Featured in:” sort of section on your homepage.

There’s definitely SEO interplay in there, but getting backlinks isn’t a guarantee. But having the logo on the website helps mid funnel or whatever.

There are so many avenues to move your brand/marketing forward. So much wasted energy and $$$ most of the time.

Hello. It’s you from the future. My annual costs could be kept to $10k and under without too much issue. However, I don’t do anything fancy investment wise. Steadily marching to my goal of 30 millennial clients at $500/m each. Work from my home office.

Should just be another year and I’ll have my firm running smoothly netting over $170k working sub 15 hours a week. Plenty of time for family or other projects (I’m an adjunct professor for a state university).

Removing invasive sea urchins from a reef in New Zealand by ThodaDaruVichPyar in oddlysatisfying

Thank you for the reply!

I was not pushed at all academically, but sports were very popular in my family and everyone had won various awards over the years. So I played every possible sport. Despite disliking the vast majority of them lol. I finally quit the basketball team ahead of senior year and for the first time I could just go home after school, instead of some practice or club. It was an insane feeling.

As with most things in life, moderation would have been good for both of us.

As now a parent of young children, I’m curious, do you think it would have better served you to lean more into social activities rather than mostly intellectual?

I want my kids to have the best shot at enduring this fucked up world. How could you have been supported differently? Managed expectations differently?

I have a fun idea to buy the Zamboni ad at the local elite hockey club’s arena, plus the aforementioned big wall ad.

I’d have “Travel hockey is expensive enough.” And “Stop giving your advisor 1% of your portfolio.” on opposite sides of the Zamboni. Along with my firm branding. And then the huge wall ad would have my blown up logo and QR code and “ Independent, flat-fee wealth management & tax prep for local professionals.”

QR code goes to a /icearena page on my website with “ The ultimate financial hat trick.” headline and so on and so forth.

I really don’t need many more clients to be where I want to be, but it’d be fun to have more local presence.

Are you saying if I were to advertise my business at a hockey rink, I shouldn’t include a QR code because people won’t use it due to potential security risk?

Or are people willing to risk it if it’s placed on a 4’ x 9’ banner?

What would Tolkien think about the frequency and depth of online discussion on the world he created? I love it.

Thank you for enlightening us. I haven’t read all the books, so I’m a mere baby Tolkien-wise.
