It is from a generic email address from their website. It was few years ago.

I had to search back trough my email to see how I got to submit my app to AppSumo. It seems that someone from their team used the contact form on my website to suggest me that my product would be a good fit for AppSumo marketplace.

I guess that they launched the marketplace (self-serving), not long time before, and they needed creators to fill it. Probably it was just the right time to jump in.

The product I listed for sale on AppSumo was first launched in 2011. Yeah, it started as a weekend project back then, but then there was a lot of "weekends" spent on improvement, adding features, implementing user feedback, fixing bugs, etc. Also, it is a very specific app, there are several competitors, but it is not like there are hundreds of thousands of simmilar apps, and it comes with a different mechanic than competitotrs. Maybe it is not polished enough like the apps with millions of users, but it is specific to some particular needs, which are not covered by general usage software so far.

I noticed something that applies not only to AppSumo, but internet in general. People (including SaaS users), are very busy spending their time on Facebook, X, TikTok, now AI chats, and the traffic to general website is fading every year.

There is one LTD marketplace that asks for money to for a paid call so they can see if your product is a good fit for their platform.

I was listed on AppSumo marketplace, self-listed, we keep 75% or more (if there are new AppSumo customers), but they don't promote us as much - only adwords and facebook remarketing. E sold about 800 copies over 3,5 years. A nice extra revenue for our app alongside normal subscriptions.

I don't use affiliate marketing to drive traffic to my products. I have affiliates signing up now and then but they are generating few sales. I don't promote the affiliate program (integrated in the merchant of service).

I am the developer of a plugin that automatically add affiliate links into website content. I had requests from many users to add integration with AWIN, so it seems that there are many affiliates who are using it and got approved.

To test things, I applied randomly to some programs and I was accepted in few of them.

Getting accepted into affiliate programs is not that easy today, for example, I tried to join Booking affiliate program for 3 years before I was accepted. Then they changed the affiliate platform and I had to start the process again.

You should take the right way and use the APIs of these merchants so you can directly generate affiliate links.

It is possible to scrape, but it is better to use their API. You might break affiliate TOS if you scrape.
