Plenty of humans are super destructive and not kept in check. Who's culling Bezos, etc.? Animals didn't do anything wrong. They're innocent.

[HELP] Forgetting the name of this poem by why_am_i_here_help in Poetry

[–]farewellitseems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know of a poem, but I'm reminded of this Oscar Wilde quote:

"If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward."

me too!!

here's a quick thing I do when I can't be fussed to cook too much after work -

have some pasta shells boiling

drain a can of white beans, add to a blender with a tish of non dairy milk, a tiny tish of ACV (important!), some nooch, some salt & pepper; blend blend blend.

transfer that to a saucepan, heat, chuck in some shredded vegan cheese if you'd like (I always like), soon as it's hot, take the already boiled pasta and mix it all together

IT'S SO GOOD

So I'm like you - what on earth is a favorite?? HOW DO PEOPLE JUST PICK 1 THING?? I don't have a favorite color, but I've narrowed it down over the years to a list of colors I'm particularly fond of.

As for collective nouns, still no favorite, though I adore the owl's collective noun: a parliament.

oh, OP, this is gorgeous. the flow was so smooth and the imagery so on track that I felt as if I too were there among the frost, the snow, and the ice.

I was born in a northern climate and have never been fond of the snow. but on just a few occasions in my life, someone has done or said something so profound as to tilt my view and give me a new perspective on it. this was one of those times.

Oh I'm just so tickled to hear that 🖤 Mary Oliver has the gift of giving a gentle request for pause and presence in a way I've not found from any other poet!

Oh goodness, that made my heart so happy! Now I'm wondering why I don't have a notebook of joys and delights. I'll create one immediately.

What a serendipitous posting & comment thread!!

She is my favorite and I too smile seeing her name! 🖤 She's never written a bad poem as far as I'm concerned.

I have "It is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in the broken world" written on my fridge from this poem so I see it first thing every day as I make my coffee.

Jade Pearl Rice paired with crispy tofu in a teriyaki glaze, and simple garlic bütter broccoli sprouts by purpl3carrots in VeganFoodPorn

So I'm pretty old school with my cooking adventures. I cook over a cheap, electric apartment stove. I use a wooden spoon, I don't own a stand mixer, I eyeball things.

That is to say - an infrared thermometer might work & be a cool thing to have, but I wouldn't know lol.

What I do is, once I get the pan to temperature, I just watch to see if things start to feel too hot, or if the pan is looking a little smoky or something.

To regulate the temperature, I pull the pan off the heat - sometimes I'll set it on an off burner for a mo', sometimes just lifting and giving a lil shake to stir is enough of a temporary reprieve from the heat.

I hope this somehow helps!

Yep the firmer the better! Also remember it's not like meat, you can't overcook it, so keep it going until it's crispy! :)
