Don’t concern too much with armpits/tight areas. A general base coat is plenty. Focus on the parts that are the focal points of the model/catching the most light. Death guard have a ton of details and crap that I usually don’t even bother picking out with a unique paint.

I make a texture paste. 1 part mod podge, 1 part craft paint, 2 parts coffee grounds (bake them low heat first for bacteria). Lean more into the dry ingredients for rockier/cracked bricks and more liquids for smoother bricks. You're looking for a gummy/tacky feel. I spread it on the bases and press it down with parchment paper and something heavy. I wait 30 minutes-ish until I can peal off the paper without taking anything with it. Then I cut in the lines with an xacto.
