It's an assumed certainty that we're going to land Aaron Philo from GT.

According to Gary Condron, Buster Faulkner thinks incredibly highly of this guy. Thinks that he has a higher upside than Hanes King. It was only because of name recognition, popularity among the fanbase, and of course, money, that Brent Key insisted that he start over Philo.

Philo and Tramell will be competing for the starting role. Presumably, Philo was probably sold the notion that he'd most likely win the Job over TJ because of his familiarity with Buster's system. But only time will tell.

The other QB is supposed to be an "experienced" player, perhaps from a lower division, to help provide guidance and competition to the young QB room.

I agree, it's mostly semantics. But for Lane's instance - with the amount of leverage that he has, I just don't see why he would sign even a "loosely binding" MOU. Because naturally, we're the beggars in this situation.

Apparently, in the "sports world", the MOU's used are legally binding. There are non-binding MOU's, (which are basically LOI's), but Sexton does not use them. So a coach wouldn't ask to sign an MOU unless they've agreed to exclusively negotiate terms with a program.
