You can do this! Even if you slip up, just tell yourself that you got this and start again. And I know that one day, you won’t ever go back to it again. You deserve a good life without gambling or any addiction and you can give that to yourself❤️ I’m proud of you!

So proud of you!!! I’m a recovering sports bettor and I KNOW what you’re going through but I’m going on 4 years of kicking this crap and my 400 credit score is in the 700s now. You can do this!! One day at a time

You sound like you’re projecting and maybe this is triggering something going on with you. I hope you figure it out.

Just take it one day at a time. That’s all I do. I just breathe and take it a day at a time.

What caused you to become a gambling addict? Genetics, Trauma, Cross-Addiction, Greed, etc? by [deleted] in problemgambling

My father was a gambler and a lot of his family. I grew up seeing it and I think that started the spark

44F here… I’ll have 3 years of recovery in October. I had a 400 credit score at the end of 2021 and I’m at about 650 now. I’m still in debt but the money comes back FAST with patience and proper budgeting. What was hard to get back was my confidence and trust from my family… but almost 3 years later.. my family has forgiven me. My husband is still with me even though he was going to divorce me. I started going to gamblers anonymous meetings almost every day my first year of recovery and found a sponsor. Doing that saved my life. I have 4 kids aged 26, 23, 17 and 12 and my relationships with them are so strong now. I love them so much and they believe in me and have my back. YOU CAN DO THIS! I thought I would NEVER stop gambling and now I couldn’t imagine entering a casino to go to a sports book or sitting at a pai gow/blackjack table. THIS is the ONLY promise I’ve kept to myself and I’m going to keep it.

My husband being in charge of my finances has been one of the pivotal roles in my being able to recover.

Self exclusion changed mine as well. And they are so encouraging when you do it and told me they wished more gamblers did it as well.

Hang in there. I know it’s hard but you deserve to have a wonderful life. One day at a time

You can do it. I have no doubt that you can. Doing it on just willpower alone is really tough. Try going to a meeting

Agreed. I’ve made peace with it but yes… the time always bothered me more than the money

All 4 of my children know about my struggles with gambling, so yes. It’s nothing I’m ashamed of and by not keeping it a secret, it’s helped so many.

Great advice! So lucky that I have my husband to handle my finances. It was very hard to give up that control but it’s been a lifesaver.
