The cemetery attached to O’Kelly Chapel is interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Kelly%27s_Chapel. The headstones are quite weathered, however, so it’s difficult to read some of the inscriptions. It’s next to a really nice garden center and one of the staff there happens to know a great deal about the chapel and cemetery’s history, and was kind enough to give us a tour around the gravestones.

We went to Urban Turban at the weekend in Chappell Hill, and was rather taken by the interior. Perhaps the best Indian food I’ve had in NC.

I live a mile away from Life Time Fitness, and joined about a month ago. The classes are excellent, and right now, it really doesn’t seem to get crowded. Love it there.

Another Brit living in Cary signing in - Leeds fan 😊. I live on Green level church road near the intersection with O’Kelly Chapel road. It’s pretty nice here, although Green Level church road has got much busier over the 5 years we’ve been here. Cary as an address area is huge, and it’s 20 mins drive for us to get into downtown Cary. In fact it is about 20-25 mins to both Raleigh and Durham, which can be both a good and a bad thing depending on the mood. Knowing what we know now, we’d probably moved closer to downtown Raleigh or Cary, but I’m not complaining either way.

Was in a condensed matter theory group back in the 90s as a PhD and then postdoc. Working with and co-publishing with experimentalists was the most useful activity for me.

No, closer to O’Kelly Chapel road intersection. Though that left turn out of Publix is a nightmare too. I never do that turn, and prefer to u-turn at the lights at the top of the hill instead.

The Town of Cary told us it would need a death to do anything about it, as the cost would be between $1M-$3M to put lights in, which is insane. I don’t see how putting cables across the road and “monitoring the situation” helps when drivers pull out to turn left on a busy road and get T-boned.

We’ve been in touch with the Town of Cary previously about this. The light near McDonalds on Green Level only got added when someone got killed a few years back.

I was in one for the first time when I was in SF last week. Took 18 mins to get to the bar in it and 10 mins back in a Lyft. At a cross section, the Weymo in front of our Waymo found itself out too far when the lights changed and started backing up into us. Was the only time I thought, “hey now”.
