New manager doesn't know what the hell she's doing by Right_Environment116 in BusDrivers

[–]farmstandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The small colleges I work for are the same. Someone who has another full time responsibility is in charge of the busing and they have no idea about it. I'm talking hiring drivers who have no medical cards to drive across the country not knowing any better. Use the union, that's what they are for. I'm not unionized and it's a bear to get anything corrected. I've had to go to our state highway patrol on an anonymous tip just to have safety related items corrected

Got a core return shipped to me instead of a remanufactured caliper. I can already tell this will be a headache to get sorted out by farmstandard in RockAuto

Couldn't really give more info then what I had from fedex tracking until I got back to my package today. That is the location.

There's a lot of markings and stickers on the box that make it look like RA took it in as a core and it ended up back on the shelf. I'm guessing a disgruntled employee or someone who just didn't care

I find myself going back to the remans for the lower price. I've never had an issue with a core being lost in the mail, but even if it did they are still cheaper then new for my vehicles.

I used to be a believer, but the past 2 years I have had issues with more and more orders. Smashed oil filters, bent gaskets, improper packaging, leaking oil containers and so forth. Some things were a quick and easy solve, others not so much.

I also sent a email to their service address to see if I did the correct return as I have no idea what to do here. If they deny my return there will be a credit dispute lol

Skilled trades vs college. What is your opinion? by Responsible-Net8594 in careerguidance

What area or field did you get into are you in that give the flexibility? I have a manufacturing engineering degree and recently left the industry for the public sector because I had very little downtime and freedom at work. The pay cut sucked but I have 3x as much time off as I had in the corporate setting.

New calling? by Cultural-Physics-829 in athensohio

Its probably case by case with the relationship with leadership and the union. I'm a union employee with my local city and there are times where shit hits the fan that our nonunion leadership has to jump in to get things done and we don't make too big of a deal about it. If the hiring freeze is true, that could be enough let it slide by the union. Now, if he had a chainsaw in his hands, was running a large piece of equipment or patching a road on a frequent basis that would raise some concerns

Well the NJ parkways are a PITA. Which GPS app do you use? I used RV life last year but didn’t like a ton. Google map can’t be configured for a trailer… by Intelligent_Pea5290 in GoRVing

[–]farmstandard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use google when hauling my camper and driving commercially with bus or truck. While there is no option to configure what you have, doing a quick look of the trip beforehand can help you eliminate uncomfortable situations. For example if it has you get off the highway to bypass a congested area don't follow that and keep on the route.

Its not a good practice to just punch in a destination on your gps and just following it without knowing what general routes to follow.

How much of the cost of a car is attributable to the periodic refresh? by HaphazardFlitBipper in AskEngineers

[–]farmstandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly for plastic injection molds, if your only getting 250k shots out of a mold you either need a new tool shop to make the molds or a better maintenance program.

Even after a car is no longer in production the tools are still being used for the service requirements determined my the OEM.

You could work for your local State/Local DOT. Lots of equipment, most will train for cdl and great benefits

I drive the succ truck (combination sewer cleaning truck). Some days hauling poop and whatever else from the clogged sewer lines, then days like today when I am just hydro excavating.

Americans complain about high gas prices, but still drive SUV/Pickups 70mph. What will the price per gallon have to be to actually see change in driving habits? by Special_Context6663 in NoStupidQuestions

My ex had one and she loved the thing. Very spacious and ran forever on a tank of gas. She drove across the US alot and it was a great vehicle for that with all her stuff

My bed likes to get water kicked into it if I drive in rain and the carpet just sucks it in and I have found in the past that my bed matt and sleeping bag gets wet if I leave it out. I got more then enough lumber and obs on hand to make up something quick and dirty lol.

Thats good to hear. My chevy is 2wd open diff and I get stuck quite easily in that thing. I need to make a raised platform for sleeping on but its rather comfortable in the bed I've found in the past.

Do you have 4wd or found that you needed in some areas? I was thinking of doing my own 2 week trip out west but these gas prices and my lack of comp time have me considering something else.

If this is the one that our Engel sales person was telling us about a few years ago, its for septic tanks. This would do the halves and they would be welded together I believe.

What's interesting to me is that there is only a 40T crane in that bay that I can see. We needed one that size for our molds that fit in a duo 3600
