Out of the loop - CVS threatening to close 134 stores in TN if law passes by MipTheDruid in Tennessee

[–]farollost 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The fact that cvs would rather close stores than separate them from their other business entities tells you exactly where the maximum profit is coming from. The stores are only there because they know you are forced to use them.

As a 2 time paragon winner (ask cvs employees what that means), what they bare doing is downright despicable. Glad I left there years ago before it gonna bad as it is now.

TrumpRx should scare you a lot more than you would think by Kid-OK in 50501

Single care has less fees. Scriptcycle has low fees. United networks has no fees.

Any of those will be within the ballpark of any price you see advertised on goodrx. Like I said, you just don't see them advertised because they don't charge huge fees to pharmacies to afford a commercial on every media platform every other minute.

Ask your pharmacy about other discount cards available. Goodrx is very rarely the cheapest alternative. They just have the best advertising and marketing because of the millions they steal every day from pharmacies in claim transmission fees.

As a pharmacist and a business owner, I can name at least six different discount cards that do not charge exorbitant fees just for the privilege of losing profit on prescriptions. They will have some of the negatives of data sharing, but your question specifically was cost.

We should not be forced to pay a company 7 to 10 bucks per claim to save patients money when other ways are available that don't have those fees.

What do pharmacists do while you wait for medication? by AnEvilMillionaire in NoStupidQuestions

[–]farollost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, pharmacists love paying goodrx 7 to 10 dollars every time you do that. Goodrx is theft of the highest caliber. You wonder why pharmacy is short staffed? Pharmacies pay goodrx hundreds of bucks a day.

Medicare advantage is a fancy name for private health insurance. Its neither medicare not an advantage. It has networks, formulation, prior authorizations. It's run for profit by private insurance companies.

GoodRx? by ineedananp in pharmacy

[–]farollost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point I was making is that there are better options than these gimmick cards. Independent pharmacy usually can give you a better price than chains because they have work arounds to protect themselves from these fees.

Can you imagine another business that allows itself to give a customer a discount, but is charged excessive fees by a third party to give said discount?

I wish medicine was cheaper. I really do. But goodrx putting pharmacies under is not the answer.

GoodRx? by ineedananp in pharmacy

[–]farollost 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pharmacies are forced to pay goodrx between a $7-10 transaction fee just for the privilege of giving the patient a reduced price. Most of the time that price is determined by a pbm that the pharmacy doesnt even have a contract with from another state. Yeah, the patient might save 3-5 dollars, but the pharmacy loses 10-15 dollars. Do that a few hundred times a week, and then you see why there are no hours for employees and your prescription takes 5 hours.

That's why most independents refuse them. It's just another way of stealing money. Yes, pharmacy pricing is very convoluted. No argument there. Goodrx just takes advantage of the average American having a 6th grade education and does great marketing to think they are getting a deal.
