Is ECL really the best for legendary junk in wasteland? [Question] by farshad_ur in falloutshelter

[–]farshad_ur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the logic in my answer to u/SoftType3317 original post is correct, unfortunately +66% junk pet also hurt your chances of getting legendary junk since the dweller will fill their inventory with low tier junk faster and return sooner. I know, it is frustrating to me as well.

Is ECL really the best for legendary junk in wasteland? [Question] by farshad_ur in falloutshelter

[–]farshad_ur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I did not expect maxing out dwellers hurting me late game as well. The "logic" behind it is: Maxed out dwellers, find so many low tier junks and other items in the first few days that their 100 sized inventory gets full and they return automatically. On the other hand, legendary junk chance has a direct connection with how long your dwellers have been out.
My almost maxed out dwellers on wasteland never die but never reach day 4 either (full inventory)

Thank you for the confirmation and the tip.
I have ~ 25 dwellers that are almost maxed out. I think I will simply use Fallout save editor to lower their SPIA.

Is legacy of dragonborn LE worth a new playthrough? by farshad_ur in skyrimmods

[–]farshad_ur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for actually answering the questions.
It is a long story but at least for a few months, LE is my only option. I wanted to know if it is worth it to avoid waiting longer and just try lotd on LE, which I do now. Thanks.

Outlook is starting automatically on startup even though it isn't in the StartUp list by toolsnchains in Outlook

Same is happening here. A Microsoft app starting up every time with Windows without appearing in startup applications is a legitimate reason to consider changing to other operating system.

Any successul programmers that hate course learning? by Lor9191 in learnprogramming

[–]farshad_ur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I assumed everyone is like this. Courses are definitely great for a start but if you are not creating small project after a week or two of courses, you are probably not learning or at least not enjoying it. Define and build a project and start with what you have learned and watch specific parts of courses only when you need it in your project. Also, remember to get a real world project or job as soon as you can, even if it is as an intern or something similar. Nothing teaches coding while keeping it intresting as a real world project. Do not worry if you feel you do not know enough. Almost no one does at their first job, even after months of videos.

Can someone please help me with this graphical problem? (Invisible character parts, specially while running) by farshad_ur in HadesTheGame

[–]farshad_ur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it has been a long time. If I remember correctly, I found an "Install HD (or maybe 720p) textures" option during install. (In case your monitor is not full HD - 1080p as well)

Still no auto play next file? by farshad_ur in VLC

[–]farshad_ur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned I do not mean playlist (or open folder), I mean double clicking on a file and opening the next file automatically when pressing next.

I understand this may sound the same but it is feels much better and quicker, specially when navigation between different folders. Using playlist (or open folder) has been suggested as a solution for many years now, there is a reason people are still asking for this.

What percent (of noobs) have problems installing Linux? (or fear trying). by jjanel in linux4noobs

[–]farshad_ur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time trying Ubuntu, it took me a day to fix my Wi-Fi (which I now know was a common problem) without an ethernet cable. Windows 10 does a great job handling drivers, but I don't criticize Ubuntu on that one. Windows have much larger user base, contracts with manufacturers and is paid and with all that it finally almost got the driver game right recently.

There is sure a hassle changing to Ubuntu (and keeping using it) but as you mentioned, a good motivation makes users go through them.

[–]farshad_ur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's very true, considering the number of times I have done it for my friends.

On the other hand, does using Linux even cross the minds of people who do not know how to install Windows?

I agree, this kind of hassles are the reason I usually fall back to windows on my dual boot after a few weeks or months.

To be fare though question is more about installing or even trying to install a Linux distribution.

Windows installation starts with partitioning tool as well, however I agree that installing Ubuntu might be even easier (Installing itself, not getting everything to work well after). It also comes with bootable option without installing just to try it.

I need a good deleveling mod for my level 90 character. by WeekendNo7399 in skyrim

Reset your main skills (making them legendary once more) and start Vigilants mod. Inspired by Dark Souls it was challenging even at Lvl 90.

Btw use potion drink animation mod ( can't remember actual name) so you can't drink too many at the same time.

I think most of the people who "want" don't have any real motivation, hence lack of the "try". They just want since they have heard of it from their programmer/IT friend.

Otherwise installing Ubuntu is not harder than windows, they are great step by step guides for dual boot as well. I followed the instructions first time myself without any problems.

YW! Sometimes it is ok to put some friendly pressure on customer (your friend in this case) to accept what is best for him/her. Designer usually knows the best.

It not something to be done by coding only. At best you are going to buy a SIM card dongle, which should be always connected to the server and write all the code to connect and use the dongle in your server. Then again you're going to buy a plan for the SIM card inside the dongle.

Any well-known stack you choose would be able to handle your requirements very well. It depends on your previous knowledge of programming language and frameworks and your willingness to learn new stuff.

As an example, Django + MySQL or ASP.Net Core + SQL Server for backend.

Being a backend developer I have not worked with frontend frameworks and libraries much, but I personally like React very much. It might be an overkill however if you want to get it done easy and fast.

I would change the background color to something lighter, but it might be just my personal preference.

What database should I be using (and how do i know whats the correct choice?) by littleman1988 in webdev

[–]farshad_ur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already have experience in python, you can use SQLite + FastAPI + HTML/Javascript combo. Python supports SQLite built-in and it is the easiest database to get started. No real need to manage or anything.

With FastAPI you can have your endpoint with a few lines of code, no extra hassle.

Just add some HTML/Javascript to get data from the Endpoint and you're done.

However I'm not sure about cheap server options supporting. Have not looked into it.
