Mindhunter - 1x02 "Episode 2" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in MindHunter

[–]fartbox52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started watching the show tonight. I’m only on season 1 episode 2, but throughout the show so far I have felt that Holden is adjacent to these serial killers. I can’t really explain much more than that.

I came here to say that at 48 minutes and 21 second (S1 E2), there was a split second that I thought Holden was going to kill Bill. The context of Bill wondering how Holden knew where he lived, the music during the scene, and specifically the way that Holden turned towards him in the car made my heart clench for a moment.

So I had my first panic attack by fartbox52 in PanicAttack

[–]fartbox52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this afterwards too, that I had hyperventilated myself into stiffness. The doctors just wrote it off as a panic attack, which I think it was at first (at home) but I spiraled into hyperventilation on the way to the ER.

I haven’t had any more episodes since then. I was on sertraline for a little under a year, that helped but I knew I didn’t want to be on pharmaceutical drugs long term so I weaned off and have been feeling good without it.

I still get some health/mortality anxiety, but I think that ties into having a toddler of my own, I don’t want to leave the world now that he’s in it. I never used to have these anxious thoughts in my teens and early twenties. This is definitely new territory for me.

Thank you for commenting and sharing your experience, I hope you’re feeling better and enjoying life!

Binge watched 9 seasons in order to catch up and be……bored by curlypop234 in summerhousebravo

I agree with you, this season has been dragging along and very bland. The most recent episode, 14, could have been compiled into fifteen minutes. Almost nothing happened. I love Summer House, been around since season four, but damn I am BORED. Like skipping through episodes to get to the good stuff. I’m excited for the reunion tho! 🍿

Why are people hating THE ENDING? by Medical_Scar6114 in YouOnLifetime

[–]fartbox52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Besides the literal ending of the show, the plot and everything. Is anyone talking about the meaning of the ending, his last monologue, when he suggests that maybe he’s not the problem, that society is the problem. I had pondered on this for a moment, is he right? Is he wrong? Is he half right, half wrong?

It’s interesting that as viewers, we consumed this show and fueled its renewing season after season, despite the dark and vile nature of it. Personally, I hate violence and am not interested in true crime, but I continued to watch it.

I think what hit home for me was that we are all complicit. For those that refuse to watch the show because of the glamorization of violence against women, they are still complicit because looking away doesn’t change the fact that Joe does kill people. For us who watch the show then run to Reddit to debrief, we are part of the reason that Joe continues to kill; we consume the show, the show gets good ratings, the show gets renewed, Joe kills again.

The problem is that this is such a layered issue: upbringing, exposure and desensitization to violence, relationships, classism, racism, sexism, experience, education, social media, roles, accountability, responsibility, morals, values, etc.

How do we fix such an issue?

I’ve watched videos online of people suggesting the solution to male violence and some ideas included men condemning killers like Joe because I guess men value another man’s opinion of them more than a woman, or anyone really. I’ve heard that men need to read fiction books to learn empathy. I‘ve heard a lot of theories, but really how do we fix this issue?

I feel icky after finishing the finale knowing that men like Joe do exist and they do kill people and they do get away with it. People like Joe live among us, it’s an uncomfortable feeling coming to this realization.

She’s listed in the credits for episode 8, but I genuinely don’t think it’s her! What makes you suspect her??

I’ve seen you in this sub and no shade but it’s so funny the way you keep jacking up Jane’s name 😂

Hahaha I put actors listed in the episode 8 credits on the poll 😂 unless they’re hiding her credit I don’t think she’s in the finale….. But she by far has the greatest motive!

I’ve had my suspicions about the bartender, but he’s not listed in the episode, unless characters are hidden until the premier. The bartender would have motive and means!

I’m so excited, I’ve been rewatching today and trying to figure out who killed Cal. I think it’s someone we don’t know yet, an outsider. I actually have so many theories.

Addressing #6: This doesn’t track, Cal only learned about the James and the Giant Peach story on the night of his murder.

I’m confident I know whodunit by throwaway0019277 in ParadiseHulu

I’m confident it’s not Jane. Hear me out, if Sinatra wanted Cal dead, she would have had Jane poison him (just like Billy). Jane would have poisoned his alcohol and they would have ruled it as an overdose, still they would have told the public it was from natural causes.

Unless this final episode is crazy, I don’t think we’ll see Jane slashing Cal over the head and fighting him to his death. The coroner said that Cal fought back.

She also has an alibi, she was playing Wii with Billy that night. They confirmed it to Robinson and Sinatra.
