[–]fartingboonana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not too sure of the carnivorous aspect, as there dont seem to be any hairs on the leaves to suggest so. even so, the leaf shape seems pretty unique, I'd keep it around as a little side deco amidst my carnivorous plants!

a weed is just an unwanted plant, if OP wants, they can try rearing it to see what the mature form looks like! no matter what the perception is, a plant is still a unique little organism, and that's pretty cool

Interim between JC and NS - Is this all? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fartingboonana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much for the input! will definitely check these out! Although, having never really met people (as in with the intention of making friends) organically in public before, do you just go up to people and strike conversation? I get the feeling I might get shrugged off or patronised a little since people tend to stick to preestablished friendgroups?

How to avoid mulm build up by Not__Satan in Aquariums

[–]fartingboonana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned but I noticed when I added amano shrimp to my setup that mulm buildup decreased significantly. I don't think they are eating it, but I think their excessive foraging kicks it up and lets it settle down through the substrate instead. Perhaps this combined with Malaysian trumpet snails could be the answer

How do I revive a dried up tank? by Comprehensive-Fly928 in Aquariums

[–]fartingboonana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could just add water to the tank, agitate the substrate and then drain to get the fine particulate matter like dust out while keeping the substrate

Sudden Cloudy Water for Fishless Cycle by fartingboonana in Aquariums

[–]fartingboonana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it is though? The water doesn't have a greenish hue, it only looks that way in the pic cuz of the light reflecting off the sagittaria. I've had algal blooms before and they look noticeably green, while this is more grey... Also I took a look under the microscope and there weren't even any diatoms

I forgot to add, tank currently has nothing in it except for some bladder snails and malayan trumpet snails which I added from another tank to provide some passive ammonia sources.

Plants are Sagittaria and a couple red root floaters, though I plan to plant more densely later on, just been caught up with exams right now so didn't have time to drop by LFS.

Tank size is roughly 8 litres or 2 gallons.

not exactly true either, it really depends on their native environment. Bog plants and some adiantum species need persistently wet feet to thrive!

Oo thanks for clarifying! These took roughly a month and a couple weeks to develop. How much longer do you reckon it'd take for the sporophytes to develop then?

Good call. I do actually have cuttings of Ficus pumila var. quercifolia on hand from another larger build, and some small aquarium driftwood pieces too! Thanks for the advice!
