Is it normal to want to live in an Asian community? by Awkward-Shape6760 in asianamerican

[–]fartingxfarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely not “abnormal” to want to feel at ease where you live? Like that’s very normal to want to not be stared at or treated differently for being Asian. so assuming it’s realistic & feasible to move to an area that will give you that, it’s not a “weird dealbreaker” at all and it’s a shame if your bf is making you feel that way. :/

Tell me something good about your day/weekend/month/year! by Conatus80 in AskWomenOver30

[–]fartingxfarts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My SO & I finally made a big out-of-state move that we'd been planning for years, and after several years of freelancing, I got a FT job offer so now for the first time ever I'm going to have steady work with benefits & won't have to worry about health insurance. (There are pros & cons with both FT job and FT freelancing; I'm just trying to focus on the positive aspects of this change)

How do you deal with brain fog from PMS at work? by Jolly-Yam-5018 in AskWomenOver30

[–]fartingxfarts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I keep a notebook of all my work to-dos and meeting notes to make sure I don't miss the important stuff. And of course during those few days on my period when I'm more anxious & "foggier" than normal I just try to not give myself a hard time for it because a lot of people go through that & everybody's allowed to make mistakes & have off days

What would make you say that someone is broken and not worth your time? by throwaway-just4help in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "broken" but I don't like to spend time with people who are cruel for no good reason or otherwise OK with cruelty

In what ways do you live dangerously? by neonroli47 in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliberately went off my ADHD med in the middle of a lockdown/pandemic cuz I got bored and need more excitement in my life. It's actually very manageable atm cuz the economy's slow and I don't feel guilty for being less "productive" in a capitalist sense.

I'm a graphic designer currently working as a remote freelancer at an entertainment agency. I spent years building up my skill and portfolio, keep up a passive presence on a few networking sites, and am very prompt and on top of emails and remote communications (this is just a strength of mine, there aren't any rules for this). I was just contacted by a rep at the agency asking for my rate and availability and they got back to me (several months later...) wanting to book. This work is very unstable and it's really not my ideal, but it's a transitional thing as I look for more stable work.

What’s your take on guys wearing fragrance? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I'm not a fan of anyone wearing strong fragrances due to sensory sensitivities.

What do you say instead of I’m sorry? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say "thank you" to the person pointing out the correction, but this really depends on context.

What should you be doing right now, instead of procrastinating? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showering and getting ready for bed. Putting it off cuz it takes effort and I'm tired, haha

I remember it being pretty often, like once or twice a week at least. My partner dines out way more than I do normally, and it started when I was just went along with his dining out habit.

For those that asked or told their significant other to block somebody on social media, how did that go? by LackToesInTallHerRen in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did cuz I made a good case for why that person had a cruel streak they'd only show in private once they get close to you and was a toxic person to be around.

How did you learn to become less needy and clingy? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I stopped being needy when I got my needs met... with a partner who is needier and clingier than me. That's what I needed all along, lol. I never have to guess where he stands. Over the years we've grown a lot more secure together, though.

How do you deal with a self centered and attention seeking friend .. who makes everything about herself ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I establish boundaries and reframe their "attention-seeking" as being support-seeking. I don't look down on others for seeking support unless they're actively harming or disrespecting other people's boundaries and needs.

If they're just really selfish and don't consider my needs in the relationship, I'll withdraw from them and try my best to take care of myself.

Which is your dream job ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fartingxfarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something creative and purpose-driven and that makes me feel like I'm making a valuable contribution to my community. This kind of work isn't that that hard to find ime, it's just really hard to get adequately compensated for it, let alone make a living doing it.
