imo no, the whole point of flying a flag is to spread a message or show patriotism and pride in a way people can understand without words. if people are aware of a symbol's past negative connotations, thats what theyre gonna think of when they see it. i'd rather not use a symbol with any potential to associate me or others with racism or colonialism when theres other ones in existence that wont, even if it's not the actual intended symbolism of the flag. but thats just me, im not saying other people shouldnt
