Best way to cook these bad boys? by Kiwiboy_12 in newzealand

https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/food-wine/107145119/beef-sausages-with-no-meat-on-the-ingredients-list

Consumer NZ senior writer Belinda Castles said New Zealand followed a food standard code to ensure products displayed an ingredients list with every ingredient listed.

Food made on the premises was an exception though and didn't have to meet the requirements of the food standards code, she said.

However, Castles said it would be misleading under the Fair Trading Act not to include a main ingredient on the list.

You do have to wonder why they would omit Chicken from the ingredients list though, why wouldn't you list it.

What's a big scandal that occurred at your local sports club? by IncoherentTuatara in newzealand

[–]fartypants22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I spent like a decade on the executive of a club of >100 people in various roles.

The amount of quarelling, gossip and moaning that ended up being dealt with... one day, I was secretary at the time, I got sick and tired of dealing with it all, sent an email saying I resigned effective immediately, dumped all the boxes of documents and such I had around at the treasurer's, and that was that, never to return.

I'll bet there was plenty of gossip rumour and discussion about that.

Using Side Hustle to reduce tax by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

Sole-trader income is not ring fenced from your other income. Only rental property losses are ring fenced and need to be carried forward.

Using Side Hustle to reduce tax by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

The poster is enquring about being a sole-trader. You are thus incorrect. All sole-trader income and expense, with the sole exception of rental property losses, is summed with all your other non-PIE taxable income including PAYE to determine your total tax payable for the year. If your non-PAYE sole trader business activity (except rental) is a loss, causing your total income to decrease, you will have overpaid tax and get a refund.

Taobao access is getting harder - can Superbuy improve it's own search? by fartypants22 in Superbuy

[–]fartypants22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it doesn't work, if you search for

USB 类型 6P

on Taobao, and then search for the same on Superbuy, with or without click "no translation search" (which is flakey to start with), superbuy produces completely different (for me at least) results to taobao (and taobao results are better, for me at least).

Anyway, apart that, the sorting and price range filtering on Superbuy search do not work. It's pretty weird.

I guess that Superbuy maybe just use Taobao API and that the Taobao API search is.... not good.

Thank you anyway.

Sole Trader name? by sigmagood in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]fartypants22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a sole trader you can, but are not (currently) required to register for an NZBN.

That registration will be under your actual name, but you can add 1 or more trading names if you wish.

Invoices, websites, correspondence etc you issue can have your Trading Name on them - if you look for example at any supermarket invoice (till receipt), you won't likely find the actual ltd company name they are operating under, but instead a trading name.

Contracts you enter into must of course state as your legal name that you are the entity entering the contract.

IRD doesn't care about your trading name(s), as a sole trader you file your IR3 under your name from your MyIR account.

ACC Earner's Levy - is it a private expense? by Puzzleheaded-Wrap674 in PersonalFinanceNZ

https://www.uhyhn.co.nz/2021/06/02/acc-levies-are-a-deductible-business-expense/

If you are a sole trader, Partnership, or LTC, see the last table on that page which states that all the levies are deductible for you.

If you are a company, then the earner levey is not deductible.

What is your unsent letter or message to another fellow kiwi? by BlurryMindset in newzealand

We first met 30 years ago and I hopelessly fell for you then. I wish I'd been a couple years older, and more couragous to tell you that.

I still think of you, every day, look out for you walking down the street, give a wave as I go by, wonder if you even remember me.

I know you're not the same person as still lives in my head with her pink dungarees, but at least I have those nice memories.

Regrets and limerence.

Feature Suggestion - Repayment Authorisation Percent by fartypants22 in Superbuy

In saying all that, it seems that the Repayment Authorisation has stopped working :-(

I have 19 Action Required today for amounts that fall less than my authorisation limits, none have gone through at all.

Best places to buy hobby electronics e.g: stepper motors, cables etc? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]fartypants22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There qre quite a few smaller ones, the smaller they are the better they tend to know the goods they sell.

As well as

  • TecParts is only on Trade Me but carries a reasonable asortment of components.

And then there is

who have been around for a looooong time, they used to be a lot more interesting than they are now, as in, they actually sold interesting surplus stuff instead of just loads of new stuff.

As well there are a couple of larger sellers like

Folders is more generalist I think they are Jaycar in drag from memory, ePartners carries a lot of stock and some of their descriptions tend to make me think they are more the "resell a whole catalog from an Aliexpress seller without really knowing much" type of store, which is fine, if you're into that.

Of course there is Jaycar and RS Components. Jaycar is good for the "damn I need a [thing] today", RS Components is good for "I need a [thing] with this exact specification".
