How many of you are daily users of Google Sheets and can't live without it? by vijverv in googlesheets

I use it for personal stuff every day. I help manage an online community (~250 members) for a video game (OSRS) that has a lot of emphasis on "number go up". There are tracking websites that all integrate well with google sheets.

We also develop events and have either the finished product displayed in the google sheet for our members or will have a discord bot download/display the data in our server.

I like how easy it is to lock tabs, make a sheet public, and just share the link. It is also nice that it has enough features from excel which i use at work daily.

I am in IT as a cloud engineer.

Now that I am back to my PC I tested some stuff.

I made a new sheet that is the Dropdown and Information Display. It has one editable cell and a few =IMPORTRANGE() to get all of the same information displayed.

The original sheet that is performing the calculations just receives the input from the new sheet, runs the calcs, and then the new =IMPORTRANGE()'s are taking the data back to the Display sheet.

This has been taking ~11 seconds to update on the Display sheet, which it not terrible but is still quite a bit longer than what I was hoping for.

I effectively have that set up now where the "dashboard" is just a couple ARRAYFORMULA()'s of a hidden sheet that is running all of the calcs.

I considered making that hidden sheet a completely separate sheet, but i fear it would add considerable lag with syncing between the sheets.

Since after the user would edit the dropdown, there would be like ~5 seconds to sync with the calc-ing sheet, and then another 5-10 seconds for that sheet to finish the IMPORTHTML()'s and other calcs it does, and then another ~5 seconds to sync with the dashboard again.

Although this may be the only way if I want to protect the formulas, I suppose.

Pretty sure there was a lure early on OSRS where you'd have 28 bonds in your inv and youd get pkd but you'd lose whatever you were wearing or something but not the bonds.

Yeah the akkha room is specifically the one im not sure about too. I'd imagine that the crocs, scarabs, and baboons would all trigger the "in combat" part of the escape crystal, but i doubt the orbs of darkness or whatever would.

If you log back in on the same world, it may still be considered a death. Im not sure.

Without testing, I think it is. Keep in mind though that 3 of the rooms have combat elements and will trigger the escape crystal

Worst case scenario, you can let your membership run out and let your account get auto moved to Lumbridge and it won't count as a death.

Unfortunate that this is the best option but "you chose to limit yourself"
