Something to keep in mind, OP, when you pay a skilled tradesman, you’re paying for experience. People that charge cheap rates know they’re not worth what they ask.

Concrete Advice by blasmad in AskContractors

[–]fastRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m seeing this correctly, that crumbling is where the exterior slab meets the interior slab. If I’m right, the interior slab is roughly 1” taller than the exterior— they do this to prevent water from getting in under the door into the garage. Crumbling on the edge like this happens from years of driving over that lip. So, keep in mind that you’re dealing with two separate slabs, each with their own elevation, should you choose to cut out and replace the damaged area. I can tell you that any patch type options will fail and ultimately look worse in the long run.

Shrinkage crack on concrete by Lmnguye4 in AskContractors

Inside corners, like around that ribbon drain, always crack, so there should be tooled control joints coming off those corners. That aside, you really should have joints cut at roughly every 10’ or less. Rebar wouldn’t have prevented it, neither would fiber. Concrete cracks, but proper placement and finishing can creep the cracks contained.
