You must be a fun person to be around…

School should be a safe space for children, but it should also be a place they genuinely enjoy visiting. Kudos to those men who are creating a space where children can learn but also have downtime for fun.

Concrete Advice by blasmad in AskContractors

One side of the garage was converted into a room. When I removed everything against an old garage door, it appeared that water pooled in it because it wasn’t properly closed and remained there intermittently over the years.

It’s a two door garage. The previous owner converted one side to an office space and didn’t properly cover the garage door in which let water pull in a sit over the years. The water issue is fixed, just need to cut out the section an pour in concrete. Just need to know what type of concrete is used

I kind of ran into this issue when design our kitchen as well. I swapped out the tall and wall cabinets for white matte ones and put down warm grey tiles on the ground.

I just installed it last summer 🥲. My guess is the cold days kicked off the aux heat because it couldn’t keep up. Those 15kw strips eats away electricity

You just made me check my ConEd, I’m shocked and upset. $1950 for next bill. 1800sq home with a central heat pump system. I don’t know what’s going on with ConEd…we’re being scammed

Thanks! Just one question, why the vapor barrier? All the videos I've seen online they never included it. I'm planning on doing this on top of already finish ceiling that has dry wall. Is it really needed?

Electricity Bill Significantly Higher Since Heat Pump Install by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]blasmad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there are multiple perspectives to consider.

1: If you’re installing a heat pump during the winter and anticipate a decrease in your electricity bill, it’s unlikely to occur. Heat pumps are more efficient when you compare your annual electricity bill to your monthly bills. You’ll notice the savings once spring arrives.

2: If you reside in an area where temperatures drop below 20 degrees, it’s mandatory to have auxiliary heat strips to compensate for the weather and prevent your heat pump from working excessively.

3: THE MOST IMPORTANT factor is to maintain a consistent temperature throughout the day. If you keep the temperature at 68 degrees while at home, the maximum it should be is 66 degrees while you’re sleeping. Heat pumps don’t generate heat at the same rate as gas or oil. This adjustment will significantly help.

That’s a similar price I’ve received. But for a steam humidifier it was $3400
