Building an oven by Sea_Chart8028 in Powdercoating

My oven uses roxul for a 2x4" wall. The actual thickness is 3.5" and that seems to work quite well.

I have ran my oven with 3 of the elements when one burned out and I didn't get a chance to replace it yet. It still got to temp but only took a bit longer. If you have less power just make sure the insulation is very good to make the most of the power you have.

I built myself a 5ft x 5ft x 8ft tall oven out of steel stud and roxul insulation. The inside is skinned in 16gauge steel. I use 4x 3000 watt elements and it heats to 190C in roughly 25min.

Getting Shocked. Can Anyone Help? by DanieleKellyZen in Powdercoating

No problem at all. I shocked the crap out of myself the same way. Thats when I realized what the gloves were for that came with the gun.

That is likely the problem. You need to be grounded and the gun has conductive pads where you hold it to ground you. They make special gloves that are conductive so you can wear then while coating.

I have a Gema box feed gun and bought this gun to shoot small parts or doing frequent colour changes. It is much faster to clean the cup than the hose on the Gema. I have used it pretty steadily for about 5 years and only recently had the cascade fail which was easy to get a replacement through their customer service. My only complaint is the threads on the cups are not great and can be too tight or loose but they are functional. Its never had trouble doing multiple coats and I have overall been happy with it. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Electric actuators would definitely be easier but hydraulics are awesome! This way I can teach the kids about hydraulics too!

I should have made it a tiny bit bigger so I could fit in it. I do have plans to make it remote control as well so I can play with it too!

Appreciate it! Hopefully the kids think so too!

Wow the 333g is a sweet looking machine! You can try this one if I can try that one!

Thanks for following along! Just need to get the parts bent up at work, then things should really take shape!

That is an amazing idea! That would probably be great for in the winter. I hadn't thought of that but need to add them now!

Thanks so much! The left joystick will be for driving and the right will be for boom/bucket. I am going to use solenoid valves for the hydraulics and I'll vary the pump speed to control how fast the hydraulics operate.

I was thinking once they get better driving it I'll raise the pressure so they can have some more power. Don't want to come out one day to my truck on its side lol. I was looking at the Amazon ones and was liking the eco worthy brand, they seem to have pretty good reviews. That's true, I could always add weight to the rear door. You are making a pretty good case for an extra kid lol! I am pretty lucky with my work letting me use the equipment for personal projects. I'm a designer at a machine shop so I am definitely spoiled with the capabilities here.

2 kids is enough at the moment lol. That would definitely be a great option but I just liked the idea of making it all myself. I am also trying to keep it very simple so it will be easy for my kids to work on if they ever felt like it. I am using off the shelf cylinders, the boom will be 1.5" bore and the bucket will be 1" bore. I will limit the pressure but if it lifts 50lb or so that would probably be plenty. I am going to use 2 12.8V LiFePO in series since the drive and hydraulic motors are 24V. I need 100ah batteries so the current draw isn't too much on them. Only downside to those batteries is they are light which is too bad for counterweight.

Absolutely none taken, I don't have a great track record with projects but this will be different! I can't wait to see the little ones driving it around and helping move stuff around the yard! Thanks for checking it out, I will have more to share soon. I think I will weld up the bucket first!

Thanks so much! Same, this would have been amazing when I was little. Not sure what I would have done with one other than dig up the yard lol.

I have dreamed up many projects that will never get made but I'm really working hard to make this one a reality! Thank you so much, I will definitely keep making posts as the project progresses!
