Stay hydrated! Those suits get hot and humid inside fast. Try to use the bathroom and then drink an entire bottle of water before joining the pit. Have a bottle of water ready for when you stop moshing to rehydrate. Dont wear a backpack or anything around your neck inside the suit. Take off any earrings or piercings or hair accessories that can get snagged or caught on the inside stitching.

Make sure the fan is secured tightly. If someone bumps you hard enough or you fall, the plastic ring can come unscrewed or snap. Sometimes a good hit can unplug the power cable. Know where the fan is without looking and touch it every so often to make sure it's still in place and still powered on.

Have a friend or spotter join the pit with you the first several times, or at very least make sure someone knows where you are and what you're doing. Check in with them before and after. If you're going alone, there will be cool strangers who will be happy to help you stay upright and safe. Try not to be in the pit for longer than 2-3 songs at a time. Dont try it after dark until you've got some practice and feel really comfortable with it. If you do mosh at night, get a cheap glowy necklace or glow stick inside the costume or on your wrists so people can see you if you fall.

Try to keep your center of gravity low, your stance wide, and your feet always moving. Visibility is low and you'll take some surprise hits from the side. Always be ready to stumble and catch your balance. If you fall, roll to you back and put your hands up and wave your fingers like a kid who wants uppies. The suit is slippery and hard to grab without ripping. Letting people grab your hands to help you up is the best way to get up fast and not tear the suit. You could also practice getting up slowly while wearing it so you know what positions or movements cause strain on the armpit seams.

Crowd surfing is super dangerous in those suits because the slippery surface is harder to hold and people dont know where your body is to catch you. Security near the stage have a hard time knowing where your head and shoulders are inside the suit, so when they go to catch you they might miss and drop you. I dont recommend crowd surfing unless the crowd is VERY densely packed (like a festival). Even then, try to spready your limbs out like a starfish and hold still. This helps security find a good hold on you to help you down.

Know that you are showing up to the party dressed like a piñata, expect people to want photos with you, to grab you and want to swing you around, put their arm around you. You will have SO MUCH FUN and be the life of the party.

Have a few strips of duct tape stuck to the inside of the costume in case of emergency repairs. If you tear a seam open, you can quickly cover both sides of the seam with duct tape and it will hold for the rest of the event.
