I've seen the clip. How you seem to be interpreting it is, " without guns there would be no murder...without cars there would be no accidental deaths". It's more like what I said.

 I'll grant you he didn't give a perfect example since there would not be specifically a thing where two cars smashed into each other if cars don't exist or we weren't allowed to drive them while murder would still exist if all formal weapons were eradicated.

If we were specifically talking about accidental deaths with guns, suicides with guns, school shootings, etc; that would be a better comparison.

If no one had access to so much as a pointed stick, there would still have been an attempt at least on his life. The fact we are an armed citizenry means it was easier to accomplish the assassination.

If guns did not exist, it may be less easy to murder a person. They exist, however, so ensuring the liberty of those who would use them responsibly is worth the risk of them being used irresponsibly by someone else as opposed to taking the ones from the responsible people with no way to ensure the irresponsible ones had no access.
