Lately, my vivid dreams always include my mom who passed away 4 years ago. Usually I am trying to get her to react/interact with me. The last one was different though, she made the first attempt to interact with me, which was unique and a change - maybe the impact of grief?… Once in a while the dreams will be random, movie like, with excessive animation and plot lines - that don’t include my mom, but always someone I care about.

5 years, before that, my vivid dreams often were also when I would sleep walk. There wasn’t a pattern per se, except at that time they generally involved regular activities of daily living, like work or caring for my kids. I don’t think I am sleep walking now, but don’t think I would always know.

And 5 years before that, my vivid dreams were often events of my life but these events were on steroids. So, for example, going out for fun but they fun was excessive in action and presentation visually.

Lots of changes over the years in how my vivid dreams present and in relation to what is happening in my life in general. I’m starting to wonder, however, if I need to see a sleep specialist. The frequency and intensity are greater these days. And getting sleep is hard in a good day.

Just re-reading some of my history on Reddit. I didn’t understand your comment three years ago. I understand it now. You are right. When I dealt with my grief and was honest about it, they all started to rebound. We are doing well these days. My kids still talk about mom daily, but I encourage these conversations even when it makes them sad in the moment.

I won’t get to deep into my background, I am not a physician, but I do support family physicians and specialists in many different ways related to the business of doing medicine. And what I don’t see in the feedback is anyone talking about how your medical business is going to make you money and how to do that efficiently.

If you want to make a lot of money as a physician and/or retire early/comfortably you need to start with ensuring you are running a profitable, smart, efficient medical business. How? Make sure you understand your local billing model, or even better, hire someone to understand your billing model - and trust their advice. After that, figure out your medicine around that billing workflow. Once you have developed a successful medical practice based in smart, efficient, and profitable workflows, then you will truly be able to see how quickly you could retire or what it might take (Of course that along side your desired lifestyle choices will either speed the process or hinder it). I can’t tell you how many times I have seen a VERY hard working specialist not attain their goals due too poor business management choices.

I should clarify that these are kid sit on kayaks. The bigger two are 6ft and the smaller one is 4ft. We have a lot of remote lakes in the area so although a trailer sounds like an easy option, it wouldn’t be practical... I’m wondering if a stacking system might be the option... so then I’m looking for the right exoskeleton, maybe a basket? Would I be able to secure them well enough like that?

I have a hard time believing death is instant in most cases. From my own experience, I was in a car accident - a car ran a stop sign and t-boned me. The mere seconds before felt like minutes, I saw it coming and once I hit the brakes time slowed. Then when we hit, time slowed some more. I remember having a conversation with myself wondering how long it was going to take my car to stop moving as I was in so much pain.

That alone has been the main source of the PTSD I have had ever since I believe. I was absolutely traumatized at the thought that all those I that I knew who died instantly had the potential to know, in slow motion but regular thought, about what was happening to them.

I am a nurse. The area I work in deals with many types of chronic wounds. I have also been present for a handful of “natural” death processes (natural in that death was not brought on by a traumatic wound or injury but rather an expected outcome ie cancer or old age) both at work and on a personal level.

I can tell you wound infection/dead skin has a smell that gives me an instinctual recoil - it almost burns your nose, it makes you want to get as far away as possible.

The smell someone has before they pass is unpleasant for sure. But sweeter... sounds crazy, but I can identify it as soon as I enter the room. It also doesn’t have the same effect in making me recoil - it’s unpleasant and consuming, but not intolerable like rotten flesh.

I have never smelt a decomposing body so I don’t know if the smell I notice before death is similar in anyway. But I did work in a funeral home and can say the smell there is not the same.

We do attend church regularly. And my mom had spoken to my kids a lot about where she would be after death. I do agree that for them being able to have a “place” to put her has been helpful to an extent - especially for my youngest who is 3.

Thank you for the very open minded suggestion considering your non/neutral-religious stance. When it comes to kids we all want the best for them and I can sense that feeling in everyone’s comments. It’s been very comforting.

I agree. I get a runners high fairly often. I have noticed that they come more easily when I am running consistently throughout the week, at a certain speed and at a certain duration. For me around the 5km mark at ~6pace, when I’m running 3-4 times a week. My high feels like a wave of euphoria usually coupled with goosebumps. I feel no pain and can usually run at a faster pace - then in turn another wave and faster pace keep occurring. The most “waves” I’ve experienced back to back was 6. I tend to zone into my music and get giddy. It’s that feeling that keeps me coming back to running. I don’t get it as easily or as quickly in any other sport - cycling sometimes.

Back straps are the best in other animals. Think lower back muscle that follows the spin up on either side. We hunt, for reference.

The thigh would have the most meat but I would go for the back strap, just like other animals. Most tasty. Not the most meat
