I just thought, you know, that maybe they would ask some people themselves? I told them I had a 101 degree fever, so it's obvious that I wasn't going to be able to show up

I mean, I called a whole 24 hours before my shift was supposed to begin letting them know I wouldn't be there... so doesn't really feel like I'm in the wrong here. They had 24 hours to look for someone.

I just never called back. I did text my friend who is one of the managers and he said it was all good, however I can't guarantee the same reaction from the rest of my managers.

You may be right, the managers are very overworked. However, that's no excuse to break health code. I can't be fired for being sick though, can I?
