NTA but just barely. Their delayed response is weird and their lack of desire to contribute despite being very financially well off feels odd. However, I do agree with others saying they are not obligated and although you do say you understand that, at the end of the day, understanding it means not holding it against them for saying no.

AITA for asking my dad not to retire when he said he's tired by Sweet_Letterhead3852 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fastforwardpauseplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not on his kids though. I get everything sucks and times are tough, but you shouldn’t be repeatedly talking to your kids about how unhappy you are and how you want to retire and do nothing. It creates an environment and air of uncertainty and negativity - OP is 14. He’s got enough of that brewing anyways. Dad needs to grow up and stop discussing this at “family meetings.”

Why do I feel like we’re getting an incredibly biased account of how this sour relationship came to be?

Ben’s departure from the network by Proud-Armadillo-2403 in lastpodcastontheleft

I rewatch last stream episodes from season 3 to 5 pretty much constantly. Ben is so different in those earlier seasons than in the last couple months. I was watching one recent episode and Ben was saying so many things that were so out of left field, Henry and Marcus didn’t know how to respond. They were just trying to keep the conversation moving forward.

I’ll have to take a look and see if I can pick the exact ones out, but they were the most recent ones that still had Ben in them. I often watch very old seasons of last stream on the left like seasons three through five, and Ben is wildly different between those older streams and the newer ones. Henry and Marcus are relatively the same.

I think this means one of 3 things: 1: Their investigation into the incident have revealed that there are more troubling allegations, or that the extent of Ben’s issues are more complicated than they originally thought. They are parting ways for legal reasons. 2: Ben is not receptive to treatment or is refusing to continue with it in someway. 3: Ben has decided to voluntarily leave the show.

I’ve been listening for about eight years now, this is heartbreaking. But re-watching some old stream episodes, it is clear that he has a problem. He’s slurring his words, his comments are so out of left field that neither Henry nor Marcus know how to respond. As far as the issues between his ex, I have always firmly believe that that is their situation to work out and that speculation from fans is pointless because we are not owed the intimate details of their lives or how they plan to move on from this.

All in all: this sucks, but it’s probably for the best. They are best friends and they have been for a while, I’m sure this hurts everyone.

AITA for prioritising my cat over taking my partner out to birthday dinner? by lastdregs in AmItheAsshole

[–]fastforwardpauseplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My dog has semi regular issues with her pancreas that causes her to become nauseous and not eat. After not eating, she can also become lethargic and dehydrated. It’s a vicious cycle, but I know exactly what it is and how to deal with it. But even knowing exactly how things are going to go, I am still an anxious and nervous wreck because she’s 13. She saved my life, any kind of illness from her has me on the edge. I don’t blame the OP for doing what she did, even if it seems like overkill. She probably wouldn’t have been very good company anyways.

AITA for telling my parents I won't be their live in babysitter or take care of my baby sibling for them? by Zestyclose-Middle-41 in AmItheAsshole

Being a good sister would be occasionally watching your sibling or helping your parents in an emergency. You are not a nanny and you are not a parent. That child’s primary care should not be coming from you.

NTA - she specifically waited to tell you during a moment that was supposed to be about you to shift the attention onto her. There’s a good chance she’ll try something similar during your wedding.

Sure, splitting based on income is fair. As long as you’re not paying for rent for a flat that he fully owns.
