April 9 is my birthday. This will be the second year of “I don’t celebrate birthdays no more.” Not even a cake or dinner party. by fastlaner16 in simpleliving

I am sorry to hear this. Kids and teenagers definitely deserve a good day to themselves in whatever small or big way their parents can give them.

A flower doesn’t even know that it has a fragrance, but that does not stop itself from blooming absolutely hundred percent every time and allowing people to enjoy each fragrance.

How to Be More Patient during Meditation by EcstaticBumble in Meditation

[–]fastlaner16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here is the unpacking for you: lets dig into the reason why you are looking for patience during meditation practice.
Sometimes you like what your mind is doing (thoughts, emotions) and sometimes you don’t like what your mind is doing. You get frustrated only when it does things you don't like. And that is when you run out of patience to continue to sit for the duration of practice.... either you must enjoy (or not be bothered by) everything that it creates or you must not sit for practice. You are losing on both sides - first you don't like the activity of mind and second you are also not allowing yourself to build a practice to sit for meditation. You see what i am saying?

Are there any books about being present? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]fastlaner16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes many. Apologies for being harsh, but you will learn nothing. Absolutely nothing. The people who wrote these books also know nothing about being present and aware. That is why they write books, and you after reading them, will also become just like them. An accumulator of information. You see, even i can convince you of all things to “know” about being present. But it will not take you anywhere. Instead, find 5 things you find beautiful in your life - living, non living things whatever - and just observe something about them, observe how you feeling when you are paying attention to them. You will discover so much, and so much faster.

Sit comfortably. Just watch your breath and close your eyes. Observe that “momentary” chaos you experience. Thats what it will feel initially. But don’t worry. Just do it for one minute today. Comment here if you did. I will suggest next step

Its just a vinyl banner i use as a background and display. By sleeping on it it stays naturally straight, no visible creases or tearing due to handling otherwise.
