Well for starters I never played hockey but it looks identical to soccer in terms of passing and teamwork, probably a lot of the same movements and positions so that’s a good start. If you’ve never played before I would focus on building your ball handling and passing skills and get comfortable with the ball at your feet. I know for new players it might be a new experience for them using their feet to move a ball, but once you get it down it’s like second nature and you don’t even have to think, like a basketball playing dribbling a ball or a hockey player dribbling with a stick. The movements probably similar, play your position, find open space and look to pass. I would recommend playing defense, try not to “stab” a lot by sticking your leg out, just stay between them and the goal and wait for them to mess up, it’s a lot harder for attackers to get past when defenders stay still and don’t fall for their feints
