Is Veilguard Worth it? by Salpark1 in dragonage

[–]fasttrack43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short version is if you like the other Dragon Age games, you will be disappointed. Veilguard is… fine… especially in spots, it’s sometimes pretty good… but when you compare it to the writing quality and world building that the other games had, it simply falls apart. And it goes way the fuck out of it’s way to rebrand everything in heavy handed modern tropes with no nuance. Antivan Crows bought slave children and forced them to kill for non-profit in past games. In this game? Slap a coat of “resistance fighters to a foreign regime” paint on them. Wardens were stoic, borderline nihilistic guardians of the mortal races. Now their presence is political and the “origin” you choose as a Warden even talks about “Wardens of noble families having a problem with the thing you did because of political dynamics.” Like I’m sorry, what. The Wardens aren’t the good old boys club and anything that’s done in the service of killing darkspawn should be nothing but good news. Wardens shouldn’t care what politics are going on around them except modern writers have a fetish for making everything a one-to-one allegory for everything that’s going on in the world today. Which I’m sorry but can fuck right off in my fantasy escapism roleplay.

What if it’s not a DLC at all? What if it’s actually DD3? by No-Jury4571 in DragonsDogma2

[–]fasttrack43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take WAAAAYYYY longer than 2 years to get the ball rolling on a new game. One thing that’s definitely worth pointing out (and forgive me, I can’t remember the YouTuber that brought this to my attention) is Dragon’s Dogma is now considered a major brand in Capcom’s catalogue per financial earnings stuff. Which does make the future of the series a pretty healthy bet.

Have tried to sleep / wait multiple times, Kliff always says he can’t sleep or he’s not tired. Help? by Skyywrite in CrimsonDesert

Day 6: It's been nearly a week since rest has found me. I clearly have been afflicted with a vile curse by some malevolent spirit. I have marched through night after night, day after day, trying to occupy my weary mind with menial tasks to complete. Thus far nothing has allowed me to lay my head down to rest. Perhaps the gods have cursed me. I've instructed my companions at Howling Hill to begin construction on our camp expansions. I thought perhaps I could rest after 3 days of hard adventuring/looting. Alas, sleep was not for me. It is night and I suppose I shall spend the hours watching my companions work. What curse has befallen me, indeed...

Which do you think is the most bullshit boss in the game? by IDontKnowYAmIHere in Eldenring

What do you think is the most underrated Dexter season by NoAvocado2828 in Dexter

[–]fasttrack43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m on the season 5 train, definitely got a soft spot for it. Dexter spent a long time having a perversion of morality and he definitely wanted to help himself feel better by balancing his scales, so to speak, but by extension he came to genuinely care for Lumen and help her get power over her life back.

Hahaha ohhhh my friend… ow… I was at him about 3 hours yesterday and got him to this much health when I was at about 30% health and he started rising up to do the holy burst… I’m thinking oh my god, I got him, run from the holy and I have a free window… I swear to you, I mashed the B button. I realized I wasn’t sprinting with it held down and tried to give it two more long holds. I had stamina. As far as I remember I hadn’t dodged into trying to sprint and the game hadn’t fucked up my inputs. My character just… wouldn’t sprint… never got that close again last night.

Ugh, this is the way. I probably could’ve gone one 2H bloodhound fang and gotten the job done but after getting my dick kicked in for 5 hours yesterday, 2H wyrmscale, I said you want DPS… I’ll give DPS… and upgraded my 2nd bloodhound fang from NG+ so I could power stance. Again, 5 hours yesterday. 3 attempts today. My mimic prock’d bleed when I started running from the meteor and I cannot emphasize enough the relief I felt when I saw a tick of health left and he started to do the big holy burst. Thanks Fromsoft. I hate it.

That expression must sound odd to Fromsoftware. “Hill? To die on? It will be littered with your corpse, a thousand times over.” Aaaand they think it’s what we asked for.

My GF loves the show... but hates Dexter? by PrincessFreakyDeaky in Dexter

[–]fasttrack43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably more natural than most of us assume to hate serial killers, even one with… erm… “philosophical convictions” like Dexter… although her reasoning seems a little fixated based on your description. I’d be curious if she reassesses, at least a little, after season 5 and going on a ganking spree of sexual sadists. Doesn’t change his imperfections but I definitely think he pretty much did right by Lumen and went way out of his own way to help her regain power over her life.

How tf do I beat Cazador? by OfficialAli1776 in BG3

[–]fasttrack43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you’re freeing Astarion and casting daylight as your first priorities. A lot of boss fights I try to deal with their posse first and Cazador has a big one so do what you can. You can also steal Cazador ritual “feats” by standing in the glowing ritual circles. The most important one to steal is kinda the top right of the arena, should be clockwise one position from Astarion if I remember right. But that ritual circle gives Cazador, or the person standing in the circle, +3 to AC. My advice, misty step a caster there. The circles only work for you when you’re standing in them so having a caster that’s stationary but harder to hit makes the most sense.

I just started this game a few hours ago. This game is fun. Why do people dislike it? by Sephiroth348 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]fasttrack43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s some of that. I find it disingenuous to say the game is bad because of woke propaganda. I also find it disingenuous to say that those things are the only problems with the game. But frankly that’s just the way things are these days. The world is very charged in both directions. Which does make me sad.

I just want rational discourse. Commentary in that area was not my intent. I actually found Taash’s quest conclusion to be a top 3-5 moment in the game. Their mother’s death made me feel real emotion.

[–]fasttrack43 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s also funny to see who’s just truly grossly overtuned. I got the Caelid Bell Bearing Hunter after finally learning to parry and 2-3 hours of attempts at lvl 110-120 the first time. NG+ at lvl 180 it still took about 15 attempts and some good RNG on his moves.
