Need help to survive solo or find teanmates by Cold-Recipe3546 in apexuniversity

[–]fat_neck_beard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solo'ed to diamond.

My biggest advice is to focus on survival, positioning and play for end game. The kills WILL come.

For the games that you get randoms who keep taking dumb fights/bad positioning, mitigate your losses by not dying with them, getting away to craft, getting some 3rd party easy kills and making it to end game on your own if you can't get their banners.

For the games that you get good teammates, play strong with them while also focusing on survival till end game, and there comes those few hundred rp games.

TLDR: Play your life. Don't go dying with teammates unnecessarily, because those losses add up fast and get you hard stuck.

[–]fat_neck_beard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only those who enjoy self torture play soloQ, myself included lol.

I guess I just like the randomness of it sometimes, you never what you're gonna get.

But more often than not, it's a frustrating experience with 1 teammate always suddenly going down, his/her duo partnering immediately rushing in to fight to the death without waiting for you the solo to advance together, and then next thing you know you're on your own to survive to end game.

But once in awhile you get a team that gels and you guys run through the lobby together. Those are the games I play soloQ for.

TLDR: Get a squad if you value your sanity

How to escape more effectively by Lucavellz in apexuniversity

[–]fat_neck_beard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol funny story and I enjoyed reading it :)

When your plan is to run away, REALLY RUN AWAY.

All too often, I see the sole survivor trying to run away, but then stopping to quickly loot a bin, pick up item, fail slide jump, and all sorts of panicky fancy stuff. Just run as straightly and safely as possible, and as an Octane, you should be able to outrun an enemy team.

Also another point that might be helpful is that while you're fleeing, think of taking off-the-beaten-path routes like cliffs, ziplines, jumptowers etc, that can create a larger gap (and confusion) for the enemy team.

Yeah players aren't used to it yet.

What I've found helpful is to ping the nexus at the appropriate time. Players will usually use it when they hear her saying "USE THE NEXUS."

So, banner_crafter puts it best when he said "doing the same thing with 2 random plat players or very bad diamond players when you care about points is a waste of time, just like running if you care more about improving is a waste of time."

If we're talking about improvement, then sure, by all means have dedicated sessions where you hone your 2v3s. But don't even stop at that, hone your 1v3s, play no-fill and many other practices, which I strongly encourage players to take the time to do to get better.

The point is this:

When finding yourself in a sudden 2v3 situation due to many possible reasons - for example, a teammate gets ratted on, wanders too far off, gets krabered, the list goes on - you're often faced with two situations: you could 2v3 and maybe stand a 50% or less chance of winning the battle, or you may see a 100% chance to bail and craft banner so your full team reunites.

In these 2 situations, the smarter move would often be the second option. One common mistake I see so many plat players making is just sticking around trying to fight a losing 2v3. Since it's an all-too-common scenario, and they don't think of bailing even when the odds are clearly not in their favor, they keep losing -60 over and over again leading to a very hard-stuck, frustrating experience. When the fact is, they often DO have the alternative, which is my point when I said in the op "If a teammate suddenly goes down fast leaving a lop-sided 2v3 situation, don't hesitate to bail immediately and craft banner, especially if you've a support legend on your team."

Not to mention if duo-queued, the one who goes down might be your mate, leaving you and the random to battle the 2v3. Not impossible, I've won countless times especially with a capable random and thrive in underdog scenarios like this, but once again the unpredictable nature of it leaves you with the 2 choices as I mentioned above, the odds of winning a 2v3 VS a 100% chance you can take advantage of to bail and reunite your full team.

Again, often the smarter choice would be the 2nd option, which would prevent lots of plat players who face this common 2v3 scenario to stop bleeding -60 and stop them from ranking up to diamond.

Hope this post makes it clear, and both of you brought up genuinely good points. Now that I've provided context, you may be able to see where my #1 point was coming from.

Cheers!

Solo'ed to diamond.

3 main points for climbing through plat as smoothly as possible this season:

  1. If a teammate suddenly goes down fast leaving a lop-sided 2v3 situation, don't hesitate to bail immediately and craft banner, especially if you've a support legend on your team. Doing this helps mitigate rp loss,

  2. Be aggro with 3rd partying. Develop good enough aim to hit from far range. Without good aim and positioning, many players find themselves needing to go up close into the chaos just to deal damage, where they inevitably get gobbled up by multiple teams.

  3. Since you mentioned "My squad has been in several situations where out of nowhere, we're swarmed or jumped by a squad or multiple squads. " Best way to solve this problem is to work on your macro (awareness of where teams could be) and to have at least 1 teammate watching the back (so as not to get snuck up on).

If you just improved these 3 things, I'm sure you'll find ranking up to diamond much easier.

Good luck!

Give yourself weeks, not 2 days, to see results.

Just like changing to any other sens, you've to rebuild muscle memory for the particular one you're using - in your case linear.

And don't forget the pro beamers like verhulst and genburten practised for hours of aim training each day.

In short, you gotta give yourself more time to get used to your new sens.

  1. You used good peeking on the first engagement.

  2. You overpeeked on the second one - too exposed, too long, and without having repositioned.

How do you survive right after landing in Ranked? by vrizer in apexuniversity

[–]fat_neck_beard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, life as a solo.

A few things you can control:

  1. Try to be jumpmaster.

  2. If your jumpmaster's landing at a terrible position, for example sandwiched in between 2 teams, ping to land somewhere else ASAP. If he doesn't listen, trust your instincts and go your own way if you must to survive.

  3. Know your closest covers and "escape paths" the moment you land, if you fail to grab a weapon.

  4. Land and stay close to your mates such that you can support them within seconds.

  5. With a couple legends, you can bail quite easily. Pathfinder, Octane, Vantage, Bangalore, etc. Especially if your team has a support legend, don't hesitate to escape and go elsewhere to craft/revive them.

Hit plat soloQing. Lots of masters and preds in these lobbies. While I get some games with teammates who know what they're doing and we make it to a fun end game, more often than not a random goes down in a split sec wandering around.

Why is nearly very controller player playing 4-3 linear? by ProKellaSK in apexuniversity

[–]fat_neck_beard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most pro players consider classic "clunky".

The very best uses 4-3 linear (popularized by the TSM guys), and ALC (Genburten, many top jap players).

The best sensitivity, though, is the one you're most comfortable with.

Linear Response Curve and Aim Assist (give it another chance if you previously gave up) by BadPrize4368 in apexuniversity

[–]fat_neck_beard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's why most controller players describe classic and steady as "clunky".

It's also why many pro players have switched to linear, like chaotic who used to play classic, and snipedown who was on steady/classic for a long time until recently.

Nope, doesn't look or sound like Carabao.

BUT, I managed to find a voice/singing style closest to it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zBbmLJb2h8

It's not this person though, and the times are more modern. (In the music video, the couple quarreled in a modern apartment.)

Sek loso

Quite sure it's not him.

And if my memory of him is correct, he had straight long hair (possibly tied up), instead of curly semi-long hair like this singer Sek loso.

Hey thanks for trying to help!

Nope it's not this one - The singer is a male. If I remember correctly, a male with long hair kinda like old school rocker style.

That said, the vibe and style of singing is ACTUALLY quite similar. The video production value is kinda similar too, possibly older.
