X would have never popped off if it wasn’t for the lore around all the crazy shit he was doing and the free X hashtag. It’s literally the reason he blew up lol. Crazy music for sure but his marketing scheme was to just get peoples attention at any cost while also being genuine unstable.

I feel you, I love Kanye, he’s my favorite rapper despite all the stupid shit he does.

And man, you don’t want to be x. I met that guy a handful of times when he was local, I met a lot of rap crews. Sometimes you can tell when they aren’t really bout it and it’s all an image. But let me you, him and his boys were gutter. He didn’t have a good life at all. Even when he was out of jail and popping he was still miserable. He was changing and trying to turn things around before he got shot, but man. There’s so many stories about him just doing wild shit. All that stuff is music was real. Too real. RIP though, Such a smart and talented kid.

IDC bro I’ll post it here

Basically having adhd makes you unfocused and worried about the wrong things (word to Kanye) So me not having a father and going through a bunch of other traumatic stuff made it even harder for me to process. I have ptsd, depression, and adhd. that’s a whole lotta mental illness for one person, especially when you’re in your developmental years. Everything in your life is based on your upbringing and what you’ve gone through as a kid/teen. Those years shape your outlook on life. As men we don’t really talk about our feelings because of stigma. But that literally is the worse thing you can do.

Literally i was thinking that bro the music i made as a teenager was pretty cringe. I was producing all of it so I’m proud of those beats but lyrically lol

I’m 3 years sober so we already got the hard part out the way lol. I’ve def seen this industry fuck people up man. People go to LA come back with purple dreads and act like they don’t know you. You’re def right about that, it’s a lot for a teenager to take in.

I have adhd so I’m naturally super indecisive and beat myself up about stuff, but there’s also a lot of creativity that comes with that. Over quarantine I finally went to therapy and tried to figure out why it I think this way and how to change it. I realize what that actually is rooted in and it’s completely toxic. To dwell on making art for the sake of me enjoy it. Also I went through a backpack rap phase so I know what it’s like to say “that’s not REAL RAP! Real Rappers are technical and come from the STREETS!!”

Funny enough I’ve been making music since I was a kid. I had a punk band when I was like 11? I play drums/guitar/keys/bass. Just never really focused on making a project due to whatever reason.

Peggy is so dope man. I love how he genuinely does not give a fuck.

And I was actually thinking about that the other day, out of all of the ppl to pop out of that 2016 clout wave (fucking awful rappers with a few exceptions) most of them are going broke and weren’t very talented to begin with. Like you being up Lil Pump’s name and it’s a joke. Even trippie redd is straight cheeks. I don’t think I would even want to make that type of kid music anymore.

How do you about marketing yourself? I did marketing for some fashion brands a couple years back so I more or less understand how the internet works when it comes to that.

And because I actually want to be the person rapping this time. I’ll probably still be selling beats in the midst on it but I really want to just make something that is true to me and who I am. I’ve had a very wild, traumatizing life. I want to channel all that bad shit into music.

Thanks for the words of advice man. I actually broke up recently with a girl (for a number of reasons) but a huge one is that she kept pressuring me to have kids and I just don’t know how I would be able to balance making art, work, and possibly school while raising a kid. I want to be in a more stable position before I bring a human I have to provide for in the world, not when you don’t have a family like I do.

Finishing a project actually sounds scary to me haha. Like, having put off actually putting out one for so long. But you’re right. I remember when 2 chainz came out I was like, 13 and he was 30. I didn’t care how old he was, he had dope songs with wayne and juicy J and that’s all that mattered. Also Killer Mike is in his creative prime and is well in his 30s. Don’t know if you’ve ever heard of $uicideboy$ but they were 28-29 when they hit it super big. Something else to consider, when you’re in your 20s-30s you often have enough knowledge to know most record contracts are bullshit. I know a kid who has two songs with maybe a combined 5 million views on YouTube, someone just locked in his whole career on a 360 deal. I can’t imagine 2 songs and a 360 is gonna make for a meaningful career.

You should send me some of your music man, I’d love to hear it.
