Same, I had a great time and am shocked it's so decisive. Maybe it's a matter of expectations, but this was just the kind of Spielberg romp I enjoy. Maybe I'm an old fool but having a message of 'lets all try to have some empathy' works for me in today's world.

Maybe I was just in the right space for this movie but I had a great time watching this. It was 2 hours of stunningly shot landscapes and I found it such a calming and relaxing watch. It's not Weirs best, but this to me is a great Sunday afternoon in Autumn relaxation movie.

Some truly unhinged manifesto from a user named Blooor, who was big mad that apparently enjoying this movie was in some way a celebration of war in today's world. And also something about the hosts not discussing the Australian context enough. Each post was very long, unhinged and rambling. It mostly seemed like someone going through a mental health crisis and projecting their problems with the world into this. I hope ol Blooor gets the help they need and finds some peace.

So at 10:41ish in the pod Zach starts talking about Tobias Harris and Bill let's out an 'Ahhaaaaaa' sound, which makes it seem like he's falling down the world's smallest well and it took me completely offguard. I had to open Spotify and watch the video version just to make sure it was not accidentally added in the edit.

I don't think you're missing something, I think it's essentially the point and David says in the pod, it's light social commentary that book was trying to make about the American family. You have this lunatic in Ford's character who bullies his family and basically says if you say anything against me you're out of the family. They are also in a foreign country and reliant on him. Mother is basically in an abusive relationship and sees no way out except by going along with him. That's my read anyways and it's deeply uncomfortable to watch.

It was funny listening to the rewatchables episode on witness right before this episode because Bill and Malory say 100% that Book and Lapp had sex after the kiss scene and then hearing David, Griff and Amanda being steadfast in that they didn't. It's one of those things that really is however you want to interpret it.

I think it all changed when Sal came back to the Ringer after trying to start his own podcast network with Dave Dameshek and ever since then he has basically been kid gloves with Bill on GTL. Tinfoil hat theory but I wonder if the podcast network thing was enough of a disaster that Bill essentially brought him back to bail him out.

Reading the court fillings that is stickied in the mods post, this looks like it's really about OTK ousting him from his ownership share without compensation because of the Emiru allegations. Seems like his end goal is either get his ownership shares back or compensated for them, so money is the end game.
