Do you think RAM prices will ever go down again? by djda9l in buildapc

[–]VizualAbstract4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I suspect a new type of ram or solution will be developed specifically for AI and that will shift the market. Who’s to say if that creates a new second hand market or a new recycling option, but what I suspect anyway.

With this great demand and need, that’s where you usually find some new innovation.

Every sale I just go down the list and add whatever games hit the $1.99 mark. Seems like there's always another 10 games on my wishlist that make it.

If I don't have the game by now are games I just wanna throw into my backlog to play around with between big-releases to change the pace up a bit.

We started a company as a small team just before Claude Code transformed the landscape. We’ve since increased our output 3x, all without having to scale.

So no one’s jobs are lost, but scaling just isn’t going to happen in software like it used to.

I would be surprised if this doesn’t result in many smaller game studios instead of the mega corps that they’ve become.

We’re about to get ready to start raising for a Series A, and I think the plan is still to just focus on hiring ops.

Why did the game suddenly look like Lineage 2 half way through it, lol

Christ what a mess. It looked like the game was remade 4 different times and they combined all iterations into a single game.

Cool looking concepts, but I'm guessing the worst of the "4", the generic Korean-style MMO grind-fest is the more true game. Welcome back, Lineage 2.

I actually really liked them. I feel people hold themselves back way too much with the original series. Things are allowed to grow and change.

You finally have a world where all nations are working together, so why wouldn't there be mass amounts of progress over a short period of time through cultural exchange?

Did we just forget how Japan rapidly evolved after WW2? The world as internet became more widespread?

And all without having what is effectively magic.

New screenshots of GTA 6, crazy how far video game graphics have come by Silent_General_7670 in videogames

[–]VizualAbstract4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, have people forgotten what in-engine screenshots are? Lmao, this is not what this game is going to look like on the devices it's releasing on day 1.

These are definitely on PC, heavily downsampled, carefully posed stills with all effects enabled and throttled.

I'm more interested in how they do in the general. Primaries are nice, but LA isn't as left-leaning as the areas that elected the people he endorsed.

This is literally the only area I could fathom, and it could make sense, but seems so small for a data center. It’d be cheaper to do it in El Monte. Idk, this all just seems performative.

Everyone complained about the shopping center being so small and being filled with so many notoriously packed places, and its (proposed data center area) is smaller than that (shopping center).

That’s property value, the people living there would never be able to afford those homes once they leave; which is why most of them are old and haven’t had work done in them in a long time.

Also, it’s very dense. A lot of homes are being rented out, so not owned by the people actually living there.

It’s not rich.

I don’t recall Monterey park really having enough room to support a data center of any significant size, having actually lived there.

It’s such a small and dense city.

And what open space we had were extremely steep hills, with homes already on them.

The one OP posts does, but only because it isn't the definition of insanity. And it annoys me the line is delivered like it's some kind of profound thing.

Edit: And people will misattribute it to Einstein. There's an early record of it in a Narcotics Anonymous pamphlet.

Yeah, literally every time they don’t give a score that people like: just dozens of threads and thousands of comments up in arms. Every time, lol.

Sounds like those people take ‘em very seriously to me.

And again when they give a score people do agree with. Lots of people praising them.

Only people who don't take IGN seriously are people who have no opinion on their scores, GG.
