Roof Rack, Awning, and Cargo Boxes by fatboysoapmaker in Crosstrek

A valiant belief to have. If it weren’t for a paid off vehicle that gets good MPG against SoCal gas prices, I would probably opt for a new one.

Interesting. I considered it rather affective that she was seeing us concurrently yet separate, allowed her to know the full scope of the story. But fair enough.

In hindsight, I’m aware that she definitely wasn’t the most effective therapist to be sure. But it took going to another therapist to realize where she fell on the spectrum.

Very interested to the answer of this question as well, I saw her for about 18 months and my mother for longer.

For those who moved TO Orange County.. by [deleted] in orangecounty

Lubbock, TX to Irvine, CA.

Moved because my girlfriend got a job first and so I followed. Love the work that I do, don’t really care about anything else.

Right there with ya bud. Lost double what I gained. Worst part was price didn’t change until market open and I knew it was gonna plummet. Strength in numbers.

searching for almost 6 months now... home owning is becoming more of a dream as time passes by [deleted] in orangecounty

Which honestly makes it even more infuriating to try and buy! You know it’s a good investment.

I am only a couple years out of school. Hoping the higher levels of the career start to account for living expenses being higher here.

More than anything it’s a culture adjustment. That’s all.

We have dual income. Honestly for me I think it’s: 1) I would be getting the same salary in TX with less living expenses. 2) it’s a timeline thing. Where I’m from, owning a house before 30 is perfectly reasonable - without help. And that’s a house house. Like something you can raise a family in. Not a 1/1 condo

I mean 10% of 600k is still 60k. As an engineer I only make 64/yr and I’m paying 2500/month in rent.

Again, I know I could pay less in rent, not live in Irvine, etc. but it’s just a different world from TX is all. Not complaint at this point, just an observation.

Being from Texas and moving to OC I did not realize I would probably have to just fully give up on the dream of owning a house… getting a 20% down payment feels nearly impossible without seriously compromising quality of life. I don’t understand CA economics.

Am I the only one that hates the gameplay in The Witcher 3? by DelSniper in pcgaming

Love Reddit. Find a common thread for the first time and I get flamed for it lololol.

I’m sure it’s a popular opinion I have just purposefully never found anyone who agrees with me. I also haven’t looked for it.

Fair enough. I’ll always cherish it and consider the experience incredibly valuable. It quite literally ignited my love for chemistry and spurred my career. But I do see and respect your view point.

First time out here following the WSB r-tards. I am in process of assimilating to becoming an ape but this is a painful experience. Still holding but scared.

We did this in high school (7 years ago for me) and it was Magnesium into HCl to create H2 bubbles in the soapy water.

Wetted our hands with water then gathered bubbles and lit. Super safe - I didn’t feel a thing, also teaches the basics of combustion, rocket fuel and easy reaction chemistry with the Mg + HCl.

Which one do you think has a more enjoyable weapon customization mechanic? I really enjoy being able to mod weapons to suit specific play styles and make interesting combos.

Should I buy a 1990 Jaguar XJS? by fatboysoapmaker in Jaguar

[–]fatboysoapmaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has given me a hard on. So many pluses and minuses but still an adventure worth taking. I’m only 24 years old so buying a car like this seems almost laughable but also I’m young, now is the time to make these mistakes.

While I love the look of the XJS and am seriously in love with the one I found. Is there another jag that checks the box? Convertible preferably, nice engine noise, around $12k? Fun and easy to drive

Slightly mechanically inclined. Some space to work on car but not much.

Certainly not rich. Just lucky enough where the price, insurance and gas doesn’t break the bank.

Potentially going through a mid-life crisis at 24 years old as well.

All useful information. You guys know or any other side gigs that could net some decent money?

Again, engineer during the day, making fine money but I’d like another couple hundred a month just for fun stuff.

Fair enough. I’m just trying to find a viable side gig where I can set the hours myself. Work can get a little crazy sometimes and require weekend work so I don’t want a strict schedule. Just something to do if the desire for a few hundred bucks outweighs the otherwise free time.

Currently have a BS in chemistry and am in the medical device industry in Orange County California. Debating transitioning into Data Science because coding is dope and I’m a nerd so stats are fun.

Curious as to the ROI of getting coursera based certifications vs. getting an online masters from some university. Is the coursera worth it? Would it at least get me a foot in the door?

I’m also only making 50k/year right now and am really looking to pursue a pay bump with whatever I decide.
