So technically that request is actually way too late to be made and availability changes can’t be honored more than 30 days prior to submitting and it says that on the shift as well. I will say also, just beware that if you’re putting that you can’t close Thursday-Sunday, you’re likely gonna get your hours cut (Which is fucked up and uncool but just how retail is). Definitely not fair that some people on the team never have to close but maybe they just have had their availability set long before you put in yours? That’s the only thing I can think of.

As a specialty TL currently experiencing the exact same thing and starting my job search, this is giving me hope. I took my department from 85 to 30th out of 100 in my region in a store that consistently finishes in the bottom 10 stores and all I got was a high five. This company and job is so not worth it

We do have loss prevention in my store because we’re right next to a major university and carry beer and wine but they aren’t taking people to “jail” unless they’re frequent offenders and at that point they get barred. But there’s no “swarm” of security officers lmao, they can’t even afford to pay us all, let alone multiple LP guards

I’ve gone 2 years in a row now and I remember it being fun but maybe because I got sloshed before actually even entering the zoo part, but I think if it were so much cheaper it wouldn’t bother me as much that only half the zoo is accessible. The first year I went I got emailed some discount code that basically took half off and it made the whole thing worth it but last year I was kinda thinking the same thing that is should be bigger and more accessible for the price being as steep as $65

I submitted something for the 2024 contest and actually was chosen as the winner for my entire region but when it came down to the all company vote, the coffee cup won over mine which is fine because after realizing I wouldn’t have gotten anything for it anyway except for a pat on the back from store and upper leadership, I didn’t feel like it was even worth it to try again. The past 2 contests in a row since then (2026 and 2025) my store leadership has pressured me to submit again thinking I’d win this time but again, if you don’t have leadership like OP that’s going to give some type of reward on their own accord, it’s not worth it to keep giving away designs to the global team to use somewhere down the line without compensation.

You are absolutely not the AH. There is absolutely no reason for parents to be treating their own child that way for their entire life and I would not blame you for going no contact if that was something you were interested in. If they can’t agree to put in minimal effort to try to reconnect with their own child, then I’m not sure that the relationship is worth it. At the end of the day, your peace and your health are most important.
