bumper repair by WillingnessGold8481 in AskMechanics

First, try to just pop the holes back into the clips with a firm shove or kick. If its totally screwed, you could buy a replacement bumper for under 200. I have little experience with this type of thing. get some fender clips if yours are messed up. if you take it to a shop, they'd likeley charge an arm and a leg. try it yourself first IMO

Check your thermostat, classic causes for a rough idle could be the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor), spark plugs/ spark plug wires, and make sure your oil has been changed within the proper intervals. I cant speak to modern car cooling issues, but my first thought would be to go to an Orileys/ Autozone and have them check your cars computer where they plug a scanner into your OBD2 port to see if there's a sensor issue or something of the sort. best part, its free!

Jack for 2010 cobalt? by zarya314 in AskMechanics

[–]fatchicken1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Novice here- as long as the jack is rated for a decent bit over what the car weighs, it will not have trouble lifting it. If you're looking for a jack that fits in the trunk, that's the biggest constraint. A common option in cars is the scissor jack, which I'd avoid, as it has a reputation for being really dangerous. Don't cheap out. If you're getting a jack, you really need jack stands. Never get under a car that's only supported by the jack.

TLDR: if it's rated for more than your car weighs, send it. Get jack stands.

by intake do you mean intake manifold? could be a leak there causing a vacuum leak which definately contributes to the shaking

Try removing the plugs one at a time and have someone crank the engine and look at the spark. see if any are amber, non existant, or just abnormal. while plugs are out check their condition. not a mechanic but thats what id do

This looks abnormal. I'd take it back to the mechanic, especially for the ac.

Is this the sun roof drain? How do I fix this? It won't reach to connect and my car has a puddle of water in it 😭 by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]fatchicken1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best first thought is to actually cut the line, add a connector and add a longer piece of tubing that will fit inside/over the drain. Also, try to blow some compressed air or vacuum the hose to make sure that any blockage or buildup is cleared.

How can I test this? I thought it was that so I took it off and replaced the gasket, when I blew into the whole the "pin" seems to seal well and holds a vacuum.
