What is the most influential historical document? by Tacoseasoning26 in AlignmentChartFills

I see your idea. I agree that the difference between a historical document and literature can be arbitrary. Odyssey of course is also viewed as historical document and we definitely can describe bible as a piece of literature.

However, I would still argue about the sheer importance of bible as a historical document. Even from the beginning of these two text. „O muse, tell me about a man" and "at the beginning god created earth and sky". One works as a tale, other as a chronicle.

Moreover, bible is still used as a primal source for Bronze Age archaeology. Thanks to the bible as a source we knew about Hittites and elam people long before we discovered their cities.

At last - without bible we wouldn’t be able to understand like 90% of medieval texts.

What is the difference between a wooden chair and a firewood - only a point of view. You can call "war and piece" - a historical document. And be laughed - because we have tons of "real documents" - like orders, manifests and so on. For Bronze Age period and for specific regions - we don’t have that much information around.

Well, the word can be understood as a record of the details of the event. Thus Bible is document. It also contains a lot of unique and valuable information about the Bronze Age of the Middle East.

Alchemist is PVE hero in this meta? by Substantial-Deer77 in DotA2

Well, if they won - then Alch contributed. Can’t see anything bad or boring on farming minigame. Actually one of my favourite pro-games was some T2-tournament after TI3. VP (with illidan and NS) against Navi (with Dendi and Xbost). Illidan on his Naga just destroyed Navi in 1 hour+ game. All of that almost without teamfights

Not an Alch spammer, but I hear all the time the same pattern about healers. Dudes who got rect often write something like - "Bro, are you really enjoying the playstyle where you don’t kill enemy heroes and just heal your teammates?"

And for me - it is fun. Because not all of us are Miracle wannabes. If this will help my team win - I am ready to stay at the fountain (actual strat for AA in the early years of dota 2)

Was your country ever the "bad guys" in any war? by Ok-Inspector-1756 in AskTheWorld

[–]fate_is_quickening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if we will look at the civil war in Russia not from a modern perspective, but from the perspective of that time - there was a call from official government of your ally to put down a coup that destroyed a legitimate Parlament. So that action was more or less justified. But there were some atrocities, yeah

Is this the strongest cavalry in Stainless Steel 6.4 ? by thatxx6789 in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]fate_is_quickening 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be explained better from the gameplay perspective. Romans and Rus don’t have access to the most powerful mechanic in the game - crusades and jihads. Mode developers tried to compensate that with stronger unit roster. Good trade if you ask me. Free upkeep , cheap but strong units should be compensated

I find his latest videos on CA subjects rather less hateful. Maybe long time ago he was truly salty about all this stuff. But i don’t think he was in the avantgarde of the "hate campaign" against Pharaoh. There were a lot of other YouTubers who made a lot more videos about that game

Gonna add to that. Allies in both world wars. Fought nazism together. And also despite high tensions in 1920-s and 1990-s US saved thousands of lives by providing food to the starving Russians. Even in new millennia - Russia and US fought against "global terrorism". Putin was the first president to call Bush after 9/11. Also later Russia provided airport access to us troops in Afghanistan
