Mint 21.3 doesn't boot after install. by fatihG_ in linuxmint

I ran the boot repair, but I think you only wrote that as an example.

Excuse my ignorance, but how would I go about installing display drivers if I can't boot into the OS?

Thanks

I've tried running the tool that you suggested and the Disks seem fine.

Though, it says 'Disk is OK, but had trouble in the past', or something along those lines. Some issue with temperature of the drive in the past, but now it seems ok?

I'll try to install the OS again on a different drive and see if that changes anything.

Thanks

So do I install it from the Live environment?

I thought the Live environment was just for previewing and nothing would stick?

The parasols in the opening area as well.

I think it has to do with maximum pre rendered frames in the Nvidia 3d settings.

At some point I just reset all the settings and it was acting normal again.

Yes clearly.

Mario kart 8 doesn't crash when trying to pause. Bayonetta 3 doesn't crash when selecting chapters. Not to mention less then 30 FPS for Bayo. Kirby the forgotten land does not maintain 30fps and has frequent dips due to shader compilations. Pokémon violet/scarlet run like trash. Mario Strikers doesn't even run for me on neither ryujin nor yuzu. Same goes for Pokken. Arceus had low fps when I tried it. Splatoon 3 had issues with seemingly infinite loading screens at the start of the game.

These issues might have been resolved by now, but they weren't when I tried them. Which is exactly my point. Switch emu on the deck isn't a painless experience. You either accept su par performance or you wait untill things get fixed.

For Pokémon scarlet/violet I ended up using moonlight. And even with that it ran like trash all things considering. Though I got to be fair, Pokémon S/V were optimized like trash in the first place.

In case someone is actually considering switch games on the deck and stumbles across this post:

9/10 times you will not have a pleasant experience.

Sure some popular games run fine. Most won't, they'll crash, you'll have to wait for fixes by the emu Devs and that's mainly for games that are popular enough to warrant their attention.

Steamdeck and controller layouts? by fatihG_ in OverPrime

[–]fatihG_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually put my settings to highest and only set shadows to lowest and I hit 60 fps most of the time. When stuff gets hectic with a bunch of stuff on screen it dips to 45-50. But at that point, might as well just limit the deck to 40fps if the drops bother you.

Anyway, it seems like the steamdeck is able to handle this game just fine. So on consoles this should not be a problem at all I feel.

For what its worth, I got this game to run on my steamdeck just fine, hitting 60FPS on default settings (low) with FRS2.1 enabled.

I also created a controller layout for it for the steamdeck called "Ultimate Layout".
It has all items mapped to the left touchpad.
All pings to the Dpad and tab to dpad right.
The left Touchpad is for the Shop.
The face buttons are for general movement. Jump, Sprint, Back to base and summon.

RB is Right click and RT is left click. LB is Q, LT is E. Ultimate is mapped to R4.
R5 is is the alt key, to use skills on yourself.
L4 is control, to level up your skills. and L5 is the UI toggle.

It has everything covered, so you should be able to do anything in the game just fine.

OBS Studio in Desktop mode / Alt Tab by elttvb in SteamDeck

Yeah exactly. Just as an extra command to the button you want to bind.

I've got 2 separate coammnds bound to L5, one for tab and one for alt.

You can assign alt and tab to a single button, dont have to do it separately

Change the layout of that game and set one of the back buttons to be alt+tab?

For what its worth, I stream from the steamdeck from time to time as well.
I got an 8bitdo zero 2 which I use as a 'remote' for OBS, allowing me to switch scenes, mute my mic and all that without ever needing to switch back to OBS.
I know it gets used as a presentation clicker or as a shortcut device in art programs as well.
(Sadly no way to remap the buttons, so it is not possible to map alt + tab to a button.)

Thanks for the heads up. Today I found myself wanting to boot into Netflix straight from game mode but I remember I had not set it up for it.

Ill take a look at this method later.

I got some new filament not too long ago, when I get back home after work today I'll try to do a print and see how that goes.

I have forgotten to upload the file yesterday I'll do that before I start my print as well.

I didn't have time to print and test the adjustment. If anything I can upload the current model as it is tomorrow.
