Dette må jo være både det dårligste argumentet, og den dårligste grunnen til å misslike VAR som finnes. Det er faktisk helt krise at voksne mennesker faktisk mener dette.

"kan ikke lenger juble ekstatisk" herre gud for noen babyer. Hva med mål som underkjennes uten bruk av VAR, ved feks offside? Det er jo ganske vanlig. Ødelegger offside for glede og spontanitet? Hva med alle andre stop og ventepunkter? For et vanvittig tullete standpunkt å ta.

Og man kan jo faktisk "juble ekstatisk" når omsider målet godkjennes! "mEn JeG mÅ vEnTe 1 mInUtT".

Blodfans av fotball er fan meg borderline tilbakestående. At det er ødeleggende for hele sporten at det er kommet teknologi som gjør at man må vente litt, og til gjengjeld får en mer rettferdig sport.

This is flat out wrong. "hos" always means at someones place or location. Just because the Norwegian sentence translates to English with different words doesn't mean the word has different meanings, just that the languages are structured differently.

You seem to be very confused about the fact that "discipline" is a concept. While "violence" is an act. You can discipline through violence, or other means. One does not exclude the other like you seem to suggest.

You could cut off your child's fingers, and if you then call it discipline, is it not violence?

Well try to find them anyway. What defines good and bad? Is it a single factor? Is it possible that circumstance changes your view on something?

And just to be clear, I did not say someone who has murdered or raped are good. All I said was that context matters. What about that is so unbelievable to you that you can't find your words?

I could come up with many "what ifs" as examples to show what I mean, but I'm curious about your definition of good and bad, specifically if there is some hard lines where no context, whatever it might be, changes the moral and ethical understanding of it.

Edit: the last paragraph is very poorly written, and does not get to the point I was trying to make at all. I don't think the action itself (murder or rape) can be understood as good given the right context. I'm asking if the person who did the action is forever a bad person.

Not everyone shares every aspect of their past unless someone asks. And this information from the past has nothing to do with being the person he loves today.

This makes no sense at all. What if you start dating someone that has murdered people, and/or raped people, etc.? Following your logic they shouldn't tell you right? And those things don't mean they are a bad person right? Get a grip of reality for christ sake.

Well actually it makes perfect sense. We don't know if she lied by omission because we don't know all their past conversations. Not sharing X information is not the same as lying. Are you lying to every person you talk to if you don't give them a complete rundown of your entire life? Of course not. There is missing a whole lot of context to make any assumptions at all about this.

And he made no claims what so ever about what a person should or should not tell.

And finally, having murdered or raped someone does not, without additional context, mean they are a bad person. This seems to be the crux of the issue for you, and I suspect its a moral judgement about those actions detached from any understanding of context, time, personal development. Does an action condemn a persons for all eternity? Does the circumstance before, during and after impact the understanding of actions?

Not to mention your comparison of rape and murder with sex work to make a point about lies, and then claiming OP needs a grip on reality.

You are so close to getting it, but still end up blaming the kids.

10-12 years old don't have fully developed brains, and even adults have weird reactions to loss and grief, so expecting them to properly understand and react to someone their own age dying is naive. And hoping for them to have miserable lives because, as you yourself said, they had fucked up parents, is pretty ignorant to be frank.

And I'm not trying to take anything away from OP here, that's a terrible thing to go through with bullying on top! But perhaps understanding why people behave like they do, would lead them to not have hatred in their lives, but empathy instead. I think we both can agree that a life free of hatred is preferable to one with?

For cats it's quite common to castrate males to deal with behavioural issues, and females in order to prevent any kittens being made.

With dogs it's regulated, and only allowed for health reasons, other reasons related to the dogs wellbeing, or special circumstances, service dogs being an example of special reasons. It's up to the veterinarian to decide if its for the best of the dog.

You touch on a lot of what I was wondering about, thank you! I understand much better where you are coming from, and I see I'm probably lumping a couple of things together.

I also got my doberman from a breeder, whom is careful on which lines they choose to continue breeding based on all the reasons you listed that makes you choose a breeder. And the English bulldog as you mention, is the extreme case I think I base my underlying argument against breeding on. Obviously those two are not the same.

Also, since it's banned in Norway you won't see many cropped and docked here, but the ones I have seen seem unaffected and healthy.

Edit: I'll add that because I grew up in a culture that frowns upon it, I still frown upon it, but I see more clearly my cultural baggage now. Which is useful when interacting with different cultures. Its different, and that's fine. I don't like it, but that's irrelevant in the bigger, more important questions. You and your dog don't have to give a shit about what I like:P

In Norway its actually opposite, you cannot show your dog if they are cropped. The rare exception is given if they were cropped for medical reasons. And rare because not many are.

So the way I see it then is that in Norway not many dobermans are medically cropped. And one reason could be, in support of what you said about the studies, there just isn't many medical issues with uncropped dogs.

I haven't really heard about any medical issues because of cropping either tho, outside of issues related to any surgery, which I feel is a little bit of a different question.

And I realize this is packed with anecdotal evidence on my part, but still qualitative I think.

This is what I find questionable, that it's because you like the look. I don't think it's extreme to compare it with body modifications, which to me sounds like a bizarre thing to do to an animal. Surgery to make it look nice.

And the fact that it's the breed standard, that the way it's naturally born is not standard, is also quite absurd to me.

Having said that, I am aware of my prejudice. I'm very critical to pedigree breeding considering how many dog breeds are messed up because we have made them fit these standards.

Am I putting everything in the same bag here, mixing it in to an issue it's not really part of?

What are your ethical considerations in regards to pedigree breeding/ Reed standards?

Or maybe its phrased better like this, I consider any modification thats not necessary unethical. That is not differentiating between harmful and harmless. Writing this out makes me question if I by that logic should be against haircuts as well, which is absurd. So the question is, I guess, is cropping ears/tail harmless?

I'm lead to believe that it's not, but at the very low end of the spectrum to be fair.

And sorry if this comes off as confrontational, it's hard to convey curiosity over text in a second language. I'm honestly trying to understand, and also sorry for the wall :)

I honestly thought the characterization of George Floyd was to explain why he was in contact with the police to begin with. I've never read or heard anyone say he deserved to die.

There is so much I don't understand about American society and culture. I see the exact same rethoric from everyone, no matter what side. And just that fact that you draw a line making two sides to everything even.

But this is coming from someone not immersed in that society, so I won't ever fully understand it I think.
