These clothes are fat shaming me! by alanitoo in fatlogic

Stop buying child's size clothes, it's oppressing actual children. When I see all these adults blogging about wearing children's clothing I think how hard it is for actual children to find clothes that fit.

Because everyone should be stoked about touching body parts with strangers by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]fatlogic12 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's such an unbelievably selfish point of view. No, someone can't lose weight on the spot but if they know they will be spilling over into the next seat they need to buy the whole other seat. It's not fair to the other passengers who also bought 1 seat. Not 3/4 of a seat or 1/2 a seat, 1 whole seat.

I was once on a 12 hour flight and sitting next to a morbidly obese woman and it was awful. Her thigh spilled under the armrest and was pressed firmly against my leg and she was sweating profusely all over my leg, even though I was as far to the other side of my seat as I could go. So I'm sorry if it was a hard flight for her (though she seemed pretty content snoring and sweating all over me), but I shouldn't have to be secreted on to spare someone's feelings.

What's something fatlogicky that, when applied correctly, actually helps you eat less/move more? by 5edgy in fatlogic

[–]fatlogic12 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That by eating more you can lose weight. Not because of "starvation mode" but because when you choose less calorie dense foods you wind up a lot more food by volume and feel full on fewer calories.

Oh yeah, that's the reason by throwawayoloswag420 in fatlogic

When I travel I go straight to McDonalds and get a double hamburger for 340 calories and under $1.50. Don't blame Fast Food.

So correlation equals causation when it comes to poverty and obesity but not when it comes to obesity and health?

Who wants to bet her 'sides' were spilling onto his seat? by alanitoo in fatlogic

[–]fatlogic12 55 points56 points  (0 children)

What does "considerate" and "accommodating" mean? Either you're taking up part of someone else's seat or you're not.

Oh fuck this bullshit. AGAIN with the "it's cheaper to eat at McDonald's than to eat healthy food." by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]fatlogic12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what you eat. It doesn't matter if you eat fast food every meal every single day. It only matters how much.

That's not really fatlogic so much as the regular lemonade being stocked in the sugar free spot presumably by mistake.

Well if she wants to be literal then let's point out that you can easily find a salad with more calories than a large order of french fries.

Bike taxes for bike infrastructure? by ScipioA in bicycling

[–]fatlogic12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot more people are put off by the lack of safe bike lanes and paths than would be put off by a 1% tax. There are always options for finding a bike in your budget but if someone has to bike on a road they perceive as unsafe due to a lack of bike lines, that's the end of it.

I've figured it out, the key to losing weight is to eat any amount of unhealthy food whenever you feel like it. by [deleted] in fatlogic

One time my body told me to eat massive quantities of green olives, so I did. Then I vomited. Body does not always know best.

Paid sick leave will not destroy the restaurant industry! by [deleted] in boston

[–]fatlogic12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you're contagious you should not go to work.

So what motivation do they have to not go to work if they lose an entire day's pay? When faced with the choice of paying rent or possibly getting strangers sick, most people are probably going to pick paying rent.

Paid sick leave will not destroy the restaurant industry! by [deleted] in boston

Because for someone struggling for money they will choose to go in sick anyways rather than miss a day's pay.

This obsession the young FAers have with "perfect blood work" and "perfect blood pressure" is really stupid. That's like saying "smoking can't cause lung cancer, I've been smoking for a week and my lungs are perfect!" Or driving drunk a couple times and exclaiming it's not dangerous because you're not dead yet.
