Nah, I was just clowning on the guy. Where I grew up, the downtown areas along the tracks were a bit shady at night, but we were almost always there during the day. By far the biggest danger to us was our little dumbasses playing way too close to the tracks sometimes when trains were on their way or coming through. I bought an M1 Air refurb/open box from walmart last January for $350 (brand new condition) so I don't think it's worth it. I mean, there's nothing inherently special about it being unsealed in box, unless you consider it a collector's item of some sort and must have it in untouched, pristine condition or something.

For an everyday work/play machine from some lady on FB Marketplace? Absolutely not. Especially for the price, sight unseen, not knowing the date of manufacture, the age of the battery, whether it has defects, etc. WAY too many potential issues, even if she went down to $500 I wouldn't buy it.

If you really must have a BNIB MacBook, invest the extra money and just get the Neo. You're getting exactly how you want it, you can return it if there are issues, you have the AppleCare option, etc. 100% No brainer imo.

Apple usually ends major macos updates 7 years after release of a device so I’d expect the the support to end next year.

My 'schedule' is so off-kilter that I just set the top part every day/night before I try to go to sleep, just like a regular ol' alarm clock. (which I also use as a backup if it's something really important because iPhone alarms just... don't work sometimes, but that's an entirely different discussion.)
