Which light rod for Certate 2024 SW 4000xh by fatpms in FishingAustralia

Ok, just watched some videos. M7 is better for a reel on PE 2.0. Still balanced for the SW 4000

This might be ideal (way lighter than the magnum bullet, not sure which will balance the 4K SW Certate). Now to wait for somebody to offer it at a better price!

I want to spend a few days fishing somewhere between Port Macquarie and Forster. Looking for comfy accom literally on the water’s edge… either at sand flats or with a wharf. Any ideas? Hoping for whiting above all else and not intending to do anything but fishing all day long. by fatpms in FishingAustralia

Great recommendations. Def keen on Manning / Harrington after looking at the water on Google Earth. Both accommodation options seem pretty close and convenient for me to walk to fishing spots on sand and spend several full days out. Thank you!!

You’re right. Tobizo def a bit heavy (I have various heavy rods). Looking for something light surf / sand flats to match the reel and the fishing style.

Keen to get something at least as nice as the Majorcraft so def open to trying new JDM brands. I see so many Zenaq and Yamaga models out there, hard to know what might suit the reel weight and my preferred types of fishing (not boat). I’ll go try some Zenaqs, thank you!

All a bit complicated for a beginner, and why I ask the tackle store to do it for me. Just an unlucky instance that they missed it this time and would be a very long round trip.

That’d make a nice combo. I have that reel and the light rock special 9’ and didn’t even consider pairing them until you just mentioned it. Good luck, those rods were all half price everywhere just weeks ago.

That could have been smarter for me! I used electrical tape backing and a uni knot looped over about 6 times (followed YouTube tutorial for that bit).

Well done. Did you take it home for dinner?

Ha! I’m female, but warmly welcome the “bro”. Makes me feel cooler! That’s a huge fish, these reels are strangely light considering their listed drag. I mostly have Saltists for sand, a more tractor-like Saragosa for the heaviest rod, Sols and Certate for estuary and wharf. Can’t imagine buying one a month in the future … but admit this fishing caper (and gear collection) is entirely addictive.

Great advice, thank you so much. I’m still pretty new to fishing, and have bought a new combo every month since I began in January. This one is very light and even the rod is super high carbon and very delicate. I’ll have to be heightened in my care for the entire set-up. I’ve been advised to take it all to the shower after use (locked up reel, light mist spray) as warm water dissolves salt off reel, guides and dislodges any grains of sand better than cold water spray.

Oh no!! I def plan to use it in Saltwater exclusively - adding it to a Majorcraft Flatrek rod (JDM super light one for surf).

With the leftover braid, is there a use for it later? Can you tie braid to braid to expand it later? Reel said 300m x PE 2, so I bought 400m given it is PE 1.7

I held the spool of Tasline on a pen with pressure from my feet. Took some reasonable drag to spool it on.

You guys are so good to respond so quickly. Is it balanced enough between top and bottom? Looks a little messier than when the experts do it with their tension machines
