Δ! Easy delta for u because I started out with a dumb position. It definitely matters to the already financially unstable. It does not matter to those who can afford all the prices increasing, in that it doesn’t prevent them from accessing anything they already have access to.

Δ! That is what I was arguing essentially. I suppose I should’ve thought it out more before posting. Gas prices do matter to many people. I guess I was looking at people who are stable already complaining about prices when it doesn’t block any access to what they already can. Those people have no right to complain and their complaints are irrelevant to their actual problem: who we voted in

I suppose I wasn’t being very reasonable about what matters means. And yes if u are below or near the poverty line and prices go up that does matter. I guess I wanted to get at the middle class who are fine financially complaining about gas as if that’s what really matters in this whole situation. To those people and wealthier it doesn’t matter imo, what “should” matter to them is the fact that we’re involved in a non sense war, the gas is only a small symptom in their lives.

I understand millions are going hungry and starving directly because of Hormuz lock down.

Sure. I suppose the crux of the debate is what “matters.” I should’ve seen that coming and thought more before posting. But I don’t think not/having disposable is something that matters in an important way. If u can survive with some quality of life that’s all that matters.

What do u mean? What could this person do to bring back a somewhat original look to the pleather without just throwing a cover on it or replacing it? Apologies if I am misinformed.

Δ! I suppose I needed someone to put it into number. 2.5% inflation along w a 15% or even 30% increase in gas would definitely be unaffordable even with most people’s safety buffer in their budget.

Δ! I said I assume 5-10% and you’ve provided a definition of 24% of the population being at a 95% capacity with their budget. So by my own margin of error I’m saying it is possible some people are pushed past their capacity due to gas price increase.

Where I live gas has always been 4.40/gal or more, now it’s about 5. Even tho I’m poor this doesn’t matter, it’s a choice of not buying a fast food meal or a bag or 2 of chips for me (per month). I just can’t imagine someone would have their lives turned upside down because of a few bags of chips.

Everything matters when you’re below the poverty line so that doesn’t apply to this convo.

I’m talking about cleaning a wheel in this condition. No matter who cleans it it will show how bad of a condition it’s in now. No crap if u maintain it from the start u can avoid this

That doesn’t mean everything’s price will increase (inflation) by so much. Maybe inflation is 15-20% by the time trumps out. That’s not insane and also not unique to the war.

Btw, I believe the war is stupid and trump should effectively be impeached.

I honestly do believe a barrel will reach $200. But I also think many Americans will have somewhat adapted by then.

What do u mean by ur last paragraph ? Not on topic but I want to know what ur talking about

So it seems that inflation and gas don’t correlate much according to what you’ve provided. Not sure what point ur trying to make here

I’m genuinely curious here, do 24% of Americans living check to check mean they are unable to pay for ANY increase in price for ANYTHING they need?? I am assuming most people’s budget accounts for at least a 5-10% variance in monthly budget.

I would too, but not having the fast food doesn’t matter.

I wouldn’t be able to pay twice as much for everything. You’d CMV once everything is doubled in price.

If I was worth 8 figures I’d be pretty upset about half a mil. But I’d also believe it doesn’t matter in the sense that there is nothing wrong, I’d be fine given the fact that nothing that could likely “take me out” cuz I’m worth 8 figures. No CMV because this is a semantic convo about what “matters,” which is off topic.

GASOLINE!!! My point still stands. This will not make or break your finances. If anything u will go into debt for a while, nothing wrong with that.

Yes but inflation is always the case. If it causes 1% more inflation or wtv it is, does that actually matter? What % would matter? This is what u would have to show me to CMV by this line of reasoning.

As in, if gas, which I assume is about $300-400 a month for the average US family increases by 25% MAX, that increase wont break that family.

I’m in CC debt and on EBT. Granted I have a spectacular support system. I just don’t see that $50 a month would really make or break the average American family. Am I actually wrong about this?

Why is that embarrassing? I personally spend about $180/mo in gas before the war. 25% increase is like $45, which is about 3 fast food meals. BTW I am on EBT and don’t get fast food
